Hi folks, I am thinking about putting together the full set of gold nuggets from 1986 onwards. As I think this would make a very nice collection and would not cost the earth to do it. My question is, are these 1/10 coins too small to see the detail of the coins properly or are they ok and a nice size to collect? I have never held one in my hand before.

    Cheers, SBB

I have a solid collection of 1/10th, to me they are big enough to see detail. Plus a nice fractional. Just watch prices there is a lot of variation on these.

Thanks for the feedback, I am going to start collecting these coins. I really like the designs on the nuggets and a full collection would look great, and the 1/10 size is affordable !! Does anyone know where I could possibly find a fitted case for these coins?

I love 1/10's :D besides the size, its not too expensive and risky when doing a deal or shipping.
Would have to be much more cautious if 1/4 or bigger..

    today 1/10's are tomorrow's 1oz?
well if gold jumps up a lot it will be but in the mean time 1/10's are, in my opinion
the standard entry level to gold stacking, 99% of the population can only afford a 1/10oz.
but if gold goes up a lot, 99% of the population won't have the fiat to buy 1/10oz but there's still the 1%ers
    that would buy so.

been wanting to ask somewhere so may aswell ask here since we're talking fractional gold.
    what about these?

I just love the bodgy 2g detail on the front, very spectacular I think, MMTC? well, hey, ok the're a group of rich indian kids
that got a great apprenticeship at pamp, authority to print and a mountain of indian gold to pour from,
but these are super cool and think since they are doing mmtcpamp now, these won't be produced anymore.

and if there's one country we want a stacker frenzy to happen, it's in india, they love bling and love to show it,
chinese on the other hand, you would never know one owns gold, they all look like peasants.
I think when stacking becomes the norm in india, these early mmtc 2g coins are going to be super popular.
and the price, well they don't really have much premium compared to other fractionals, the 2g's are only $144 each
or in comparison, the .5g perth mint carded mini roo's sell for $55, the .5g mmtc carded is just $38

Stacking already is the norm in India. Indian households own 18,000 tons of gold.

Mostly in 22k jewellery form, but that's a preferred format for gold ownership.

I think there might be a few Chinese members on here raising eyebrows at the peasant generalisation.

really? it was complimentary in my mind.
nothing wrong with being a peasant,
my family are from a peasant background.
I'm quite proud of my peasantry actually.
my doctor is chinese and looks like a peasant,
other doctors I see drive very expensive cars
and wear $8000 suits as the norm, that's bling.
but they are all good doctors so..

I have been brought up to speak my mind honestly,
my mind has only good intentions so I don't mull over my words too much as I believe my intentions are felt.
if I had bad intentions then that would show so no I don't think anyone of chinese origin was actually offended.

stacking silver or gold is not politically correct, surely one can't expect a stacker to converse in such a stringent politically correct world we are making for ourselves?

I blame the old generation, they don't care much about the consequences of this new world of political correctness, they enforce it as if it was something they have lived by all their life.

The day I get fined for farting on a train station platform, i'll give up.

1/10oz are easier to collect due to the price. So i think it's quite a good choice to collect as you would easily get a full set of all years and you wouldn't take too much risk.
