INTRO: We learn best and retain knowledge easier by stimulating our minds with little trivia games. Before you know it you would be able to recall information on cue when needed. The more you submerse your mind and familiarize with SPOT THE DIFFERENCE the more you will retain those actual differences. You never know when such knowledge maybe helpful to you in the future! Don't be sitting there thinking this is pointless. I bet each one of us will epic fail if we did not have a genuine coin/bar to compare with. Never rely on having a genuine article to compare. You never know when a 'bargain' may arise and entice your interest to buy, but due to your concern of fakes you may pass on the 'bargain', yet someone whom is more in the know realizes the hypothetical article to be genuine. Uh oh, you just missed out on a 'bargain'. We learn and retain knowledge best by hearing or typing (i.e. repeating), not reading. ---------------------- Rules: - Read this guide how to upload pictures/images if you are unsure how to do so. - Pictures of silver articles only (as in coins/bars). - Keep pictures under 800x600. Preferably always use Thumbnails if that size or larger. - Try to have enough detail showing in pictures. - You do not have to own the product - Anybody can guess - You do not have to use photoshop to circle/mark out the difference, you can simply type out your opinions and we shall have a rough idea. - No pictures of cute cats ----------------------------------- This thread can be for both a serious enquiry regarding a recent or old purchase of yours and you simply wish to get the expert help of members or this thread can be for passing time by trying to guess the difference between two similar products. If you genuinely want serious help then please clearly state so in your post so others know. ----------------------------------- Let me start off, and what other than the controversial fake Silver American Eagles out there : Left is the FAKE Right is the GENUINE Here for source .
the left looks more blue I WIN? --------------- ^^^ That is an example of an epic failure reply. Do not focus on BAD LIGHTING... Unless you are physically able to observe the silver articles in person you can only assume the comparison of two articles are both the same 'colour' (unless stated otherwise in a post). Thanks.
What do you all think about this one. Can you spot the fake? [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/1061_stuffed-cat.jpg][/imgz] ... in case you're wondering I do have a US morgan dollar comparo up my sleeve.
Looks like someone had a few drinks before aligning the stars on the second coin... The spacing is off and the first one is perfect
I would have to say the morgan on the right is a fake and a very good one at that. I can only come to this conclusion after comparing to the real thing.
the left is fake cause it is far too detailed for age + the one on left has distorted stars on reverse side (i.e. eagle side) .
I think the right is a fake. The rim seems too wide, and the eagles head and angle of the wings look off. Also the font of the 5 looks off.
The bottom coin has a "W" mark for West Point Mint whereas the top coin has no such mark. Am I right?
sambo, just puit them to sleep by telling them i am right cheers we await your feedback which/who is right with observation i reckon some cheated with google... meh, i suppose that is allowed anyway since google is a tool after all .
the one on the right is fake. note the font used and the general cartooniness of the right side coin.
The one on the right has an illegible "liberty" on the headband. Not sure if any reputable mint in the world would produce a coin this poor
