Hey guys curious what your tactics are for cleaning old silver coins? I have one that's pretty grimy. I heard lemon juice works. Any other suggestions?
Hello Nate, using my powers of awesomeness in the absence of a functioning search facility combined with a lack of any pressing chore at the moment Ii have found it. Ta da: http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-2822-auspm-cleans-1966-pre-decimal.html
I tried the Cloudy Ammonia option mentioned somewhere on the forum on some grubby 1966s. Swirled around in a tub for a few minutes. then used a bit of bi carb to finish them off....worked a treat.
Yes I'm serious. It cleans all the dirt and grime off the coins without scratching or damaging the coins. It won't remove tarnish or milk spots though, but that wasn't part of your breif.
Coin dealers can pick a cleaned coin in a second & want pay more than spot Unless you suffer from OCD ,don't bother
Yeah no tarnish really.. Can't see it too well. Just wanted make sure I wasn't being taken for a ride
