Don't know how many GP or general Motor Sports heads there are on this forum? However this news whilst sad up front is good as this young guy is about to leave the sport on the top of his game rather than others that have hung around too long. Casey and family literally sold their house and went to Europe 12 years ago to role the dice. Stoner is WORLD CLASS and is one the best to race in this sport.
Yes. Many will spec on the reason.IMO it's really smart. Stoner is an awesome and fierce competitor and will be missed for sure. RIP SIC
I'm going to throw a wild guess out there and say Stoner has signed with Nissan to race V8 supercars.
He was offered double his salary and a 1 year deal to stay. That means at least 15 million euros for 1 year and he turned it down. That takes balls, not that he doesn't have any. Or maybe he realises the euro will be worthless in a year!
There is something going on with the administration of MotoGP that has him leaving. Absolutely top of his game though and I would love to see someone like Red bull F1 put him on a fast track training program and see if he can make a go of it in a years time. I think his skills would be wasted in anything less than F1. Calling Valentino Rossi a has been is a massive call. Sure he can't ride a Ducati like Stoner could but would be giving the whole field a run for their money if he was on Pedrossa's bike as Stoners team mate.
