They are all over Ebay. I realize they are medals...not pure silver...but who makes them. They are kinda cool for the coffee table. http://www.ebay.com/itm/32-New-2012...384?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae32a6a40
Seriously I'm impressed by the workmanship in something like that. The actual metal content might only be worth $2.50 but the finish of the coins and the box is pretty high. It's scary to think if these guys can make something like this, they can probably make fakes that are very hard to pick from the real thing.
they arent actually coins for a start as they arent currency. but they will be made of nickel or some other cheap metal and possible plated with a tiny amount of silver. total metal value about $1. resale value, about $0.
Well yeah I figured they were base metal medals but I am curious who mints them? People do collect tokens and medals despite what its struck of. Medals have been made of bronze for eternity...its a common metal used for making metals. Gilt bronze goes way back in time. My only concern is the quality and the eye appeal. If one were to hire a private mint to strike one of these boxed sets the tooling would be many thousands of dollars each and the per piece strike fee $10-15 before buying any metal.
wow...that is so cheap looking and even it it was real siver which its not i would not want it. even as a gift i would probably just re-gift it to someone i don't know that way i don't feel bad about it.
