Hi I'm looking for some advice from people who have purchased gold/silver coins in Shanghai previously. I'll be travelling to Shanghai in a couple of weeks for a business trip and be staying in the city in Nanjing Road and was wondering if someone could recommend a good place to shop for both gold and silver coins. Thanks
Check out the Gold Coin shop next to the Westin Hotel (Bund Flower) along Henan Rd. I've bought a lot of gold from them in the past, as well as a few silver Pandas. Not cheap, but they are safe to buy from. They also have a few different varieties of coins. Along NanJing Rd you will find a coin shop near Metersbonwe. They have a good selection of Pandas. Once again, not cheap, but safe. Any bank in the city should be able to provide you with this years Pandas, but they are likely to be much more expensive than Australia. If you are after some BArGAIN Pandas. Let me know, and I'll see what I can dig up.
Thanks Yennus. I'm in shanghai at the moment staying on Nanjing road so I will check out the shops you suggested. I'm after a couple of gold 1oz pandas and saw a few in a large store that looked like a department store but they were about $1,900 AUD for 1oz. 1oz silvers were about $58 AUD
That gold store (like a department store), is a good place to get the latest 30th Anniversary Pandas... and other commemorative bears. But as mentioned in other threads, there is large demand for Pandas within China, so they are often more expensive than outside sources.
0. Starting from the beginning of the main excitement along NanJing Rd, intersecting with Henan Rd (The HongYi Building, or the underground station NanJing Station) [where the massive LED screen is] 1. Face the opposite direction from the Bund/HuangPu River. 2. Walk past the massive Apple store on the right. 3. Walk past the Metersbonwe store on the left. 4. Walk along the right hand side of NanJing Rd, and you can't miss the huge gold store. The front window has displays of gold and silver coins. 5. If you reach Hangen Daz on the left, you've missed it.
