Hi panda fans, As some of you may know, I've started to build a website for graded panda price research. It's far from completion but over the weekend I've kind of made it presentable (I thought it'd take longer but geez when you have motivation it makes all the difference). What it does is it logs sales of graded pandas (PCGS/NGC) and makes it searchable, among other things (there will be more & more features!). With eBay you are limited to 1-2 months search results of completed listings but with the site there is in theory no limit. In practice though, my data only starts from Mid Feb 2012 but it'll keep going from here onwards. Here is a screenshot showing an example of it in action: No longer will we have to resort to manually logging sales data into Excel by hand, it's all automated and best of all it's free. You can export search results to Excel and graph it there for now but in the future I will add graphing functions so you can make fancy graphs like this: Unlike the coin compendium, I pull everything automatically and there is minimal human interaction (I do check the data time to time though). Cert numbers are also not recorded because many sellers use stock images anyway and by skipping this I can automate a lot of the work. OMP is currently not tracked but may be in the future through manual entry of data. Now after reading all that I guess you want to know... where is it? PM me or post below to ask for an account and I'll give you the details, it doesn't matter if you're a regular panda contributor or not . Would love to hear suggestions or bugs. Thanks.
Well done Fishball, I'm sure this site will be greatly appreciated by all Panda collectors on the forum Thanks alot.
How hard would it be to make this applicable to other coins? Or is it already? I am very very interested in this little program of yours. Great job
Hmm it wouldn't be TOO hard to apply to other graded coins. All I'd have to do is change the search parameters really. Not too interested in other coins though .
Make it so the user can adjust the search parameters themselves and whether or not it is graded and i bet half the silverstackers members would want to use this thing. I sure as heck would. It's bloody useful
The search parameters is what I use to pull data from completed sales (then store it locally for searching). In order to change to other coins I need to change that parameter, the user doesn't need to do anything. Currently all the coins in the database are Pandas. Also, as the search parameter gets broader, the more likelihood you are to get crap. If you search on eBay for *silver*coin* chances are your results will be filled with useless results. I'd have to write some filters to drop the useless results and even then it'd still miss some stuff. This is also one of the reasons I am not logging any OMP pandas because if you search *panda*coins* you'd get a lot of useless crap too. In time I might consider checking other coins (eg. Lunars, OMP pandas) but for now I'm sticking to graded Pandas.
I'd love one! Thanks a lot, this will really come in handy when Im planning my next buy up (which is real soon )
Yes it is free. The only reason I require 'accounts' is because I'd like to not have it fully public, I can't handle 10000 users .
For Non-Panda collectors you must buy at least one OMP Panda, otherwise "DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200" jk
One quick feedback - I would like a comprehensive view across all grades. At the moment it is hit or miss (lots of search returning empty data set). So, I would like to choose single or a range of grades (radio button ?), which should present me a table, each table entry may just be {low, high, mean} sale values with hyperlink that goes to corresponding detailed report. There is no end to greed - you gave great stuff, I want even more. :-D
