Ok heres the problem im having i cant decide which 1oz coins to stack because i only really have bars and 10oz dragons and am in need of some 1oz coins (about 80-100ozs worth) but dont know which ones to get. Im not looking at paying high premiums on coins so thats why i have come down with these 4 and seems that i only got to get my hands on 20oz of 1oz kooks before they sold out.

So what would you buy and for what reason if you had to choose between these? :p

Silver Buffaloes are not legal tender coins - they are rounds.

I bought some buffalos coz they were cheap and sort of regret it .. silver is silver but some silver is nicer to look at.

I dislike maples simply due to milk spots problems that seem to constantly come up and possible resale due to that.
I like kooks and koalas. Just OK coins.
I think ASE design is really nice and as such this is second best
My favourite is the Libertads though! Got to love that design.

Assuming premiums are exactly the same, order of preference would be:

    1. Lunars
    2. Kooks
    3. Koala
    4. Maples (or wildlife series coin if same premium)
    5. ASE's

    ^^^ THIS ^^^

Although I'll pipe in with my humble opinion on Buff's. They're worth getting. Don't make 'em the core of your stack but they're low premium and well known, at least in US circles they are.

I just discovered Bullion Bourse. It's a great site. What are the other sites that offer precious metals? I know that there is also Apmex.

Maples have the highest purity and is the highest denominated major but are known for "milk spots".

Personally, I'd go stack the 1oz Kooks or Maples.

Having said that, I've only got PM bullion, lunar, and kooks in my collection...
I've struck with the PM 1oz coins as there is less chance of them being counterfeited.

What are the implications of this? Negative and positive? (obviously a loaded question GP and one you will likely not have time to answer. However I'm sure there are advocates "out there" who can enlighten us on the fors and againsts of 1 oz in the form of either currency or bullion round).

If you're running adblock you are missing site sponsor advertisements in the top right hand corner. They sell bullion ;)

If you counterfeit a 1oz buffalo and you get caught you will be charged with fraud... which usually mean the prosecutor, judge and police will like laugh at you may slap you on the wrist and tell you not to annoy them again. If you get caught counterfeiting kookaburras you have contravened federal law and kiss something taboo good bye. Thus if there were to be a massive increase in fakes due to a massive move in spot price, rounds and 1oz bars would be the logical target. Thus there are none in my stack

Although I'm fairly new at this silverstacking fun, I like the maples, and esp the wildlife series. I dont worry about milkspots, after handling hundreds of them , I have only ever seen 2 or 3 , and never saw one sealed in the RCM's thermatron mylar sheets. thats how I buy the moose, grizzly, etc. and I like them cause they seem to be a double investment play, silver value and numis bullion value, plus they are a $5 coin.
