That is the price for 1 but flat rate shipping of $20.00 pretty much kills the deal for buying 1 coin. They do have Fiji Takus for CAD$37.01
One good thing about Koalas vs Takus is that Koalas comes in a nice capsule. Buts then I have just as many Takus as Koalas. I like them both.
Takus, as stated above have no capsules but the mintage will be far less than the koalas, if you can get 2010 or earlier Koals then do so .. just the 2012 and 2011 were heavily minted.. still they are popular worldwide and both are decentish prices.. whats a Maple Leaf or ASE going for? if they are cheaper then go them.. 1for1
2012 takus have a stated mintage of 350,000 including a new 1/2 taku with the same 350,000 mintage. If you want rare takus, get the 2010-2011 issue(10,000 and 20,000 mintages)
Apmex is the only place I've seen to list the 2012 mintages thus far. You can find them here: http://www.apmex.com/Product/68017/2012_1_2_oz_Silver_New_Zealand_1_Fiji_Taku_999_Fine.aspx http://www.apmex.com/Product/68018/2012_1_oz_Silver_New_Zealand_2_Fiji_Taku_999_Fine.aspx As for the mintages on the 2010 and 2011 issues, I couldn't find them anywhere so I emailed customer service at the new zealand mint and their rep responded by email within minutes. She said: Hi (edited) we minted approximately 20,000 1oz Takus for 2011, and approx 10,000 in 2010. I cannot yet confirm the how many 2012 coins will be produced, or when they will be available.
