I was saying to another member there does not seem to be ANY negative feedback with any trades on this site. Then I had a rather bad experience with an auction and a subsequent sale that resulted in a financial loss to me and left some negative feedback. It is only then I realise why myself and this fellow member thought the was never any negatives. Negative feed back takes a "point" off the positive number you gain from the good feedback. It never shows in the simple profile you see on posts I think and I put it to this community that that is not an ideal situation. After all if you do 15 trades and they are all positive you get +15 if you do 15 trades and get 5 negative feed back (and +10 good) your score is +5 I think that makes terrible sense - I mean would you trade with the same person if their record read as follows +10 -5 rather than just +5. I think that there should be a number next to the negative feedback as well as the positive feedback rather than having to click down and read the reviews.
I always read the trade reviews - it gives you a better picture of the person - who have they dealt with, what sort of trades/sales/purchases, what comments have been left, as well as seeing any negative feedback. I admit it takes a few moments more but IMHO is much better than just seeing a number.
Having been on the site since before the feedback system was implemented, I was always under the impression that the number between the + and - buttons was the total number of feedback received, and to review how many of those were positive and how many were negative, it is a simple case of clicking the "Trades" and reviewing the list. A simple rule I have not seen as much of on the site recently is the wise adage - "Do your own due diligence!"
So good to see others from Brisbane and the Sunny (or as recently) not so sunny coast! No the number between the + and - is not total number of feedback but rather a combination of plus and minus. If you got a negative review your number would go backwards. This post is also to alert newbies (which I classify myself) of this quirk in the system. But yes do your own research.
I agree with the OP. Let's say someone has 40 +ve 10 -ve. They would then have a score of 30 with only 80% success. Compare that to someone who has 20 +ve 0-ve. They would have a score of 20 with 100% success but not look on face value as reliable as the 30 guy. Ebay has the percentage which I think works better.
Trade at your own risk, anywhere. Never should you rely on trade feedback alone, after all, some people lie and shill. Enuff said. I had no dramas trading at this site re: anyone deserving a negative feedback, if anything, I deserved at least two negative feedback, cause of not paying attention. However, negative feedback/reviews ought to still be available for the inquisitive, not just score. Obvious, I am.
There are many trades and deals done by the feedback system doing the job it is meant to. We have overseas members who want to be seen as trustworthy and reliable, who value and want to be given the trust to be able to be part of our comunity. Whether you sell, trade or do face to face the system is an important part of our forum, that should not be taken for granted. Just my thoughts.
I like my neg (not really ) ,but I pity the fool who left it there for me Now he can't sell anything   Don't agree to purchase something & than tell me you had an emergency While trying to ask for Dragons at spot What a fool
:| What happens in a scenario similar to that? Let's just say, it was your word vs the dragon maestro, yet both of you left negative feedback for each other, how would the Feedback Moderator determine adequately whom was the culprit? Similar to the Judaical System, where first in best dress is normally favoured as being 'in the right'?
I would think that most people here would be reasonably understanding within limits ... if an honest mistake was made, so long as the buyer was upfront with them. ... and not be hitting the red button without significant provocation I think it all comes down to open and honest communication.
I wouldnt worry too much Spanners. Turd get themselves a bad name quickly in forums like this ... soon enough noone will be prepared to trade with them.
haha I couldnt help but look after reading this topic SpannerMonkey. Taking it on the chin like a trooper, saving others from said scumbags peril.
