If you were to submit a new idea and design for a silver bar/round to a mint and they then put it into production, that you could cheekily get the first one minted free. (just a fantasy I know but I have a nice idea)
There is private mint that will mint whatever you want (I think the perth mint might even provide that) but you will have to pay, i dont think they will just mint one from your design and give it to you, if you do find one that will please let me know that sure sounds good to me. A friend of mine had some coins minted from the northwest territorial mint that looked nice and came in nice boxes , he basicly paid a fixed price for the die and then I think a few dollars over spot per coin.
I have seen these options and it is such a good idea...for the wealthy...but I wondered about a round that was crissed with combi-bars. A 1ozt round or whatever that could be split 8 ways, then not only do you have the ability to split it for the SHTF idea some believe will happen, you also have a collectors item for rounds that are unbroken. And the best bit yet, put a pirate design on and you'll have your "pieces-of-eight"
GP should do a compeition on SS. Pick the best artist design, then have the minimum rounds made (would be in the thousands.) Then sell them for a slight profit through Goldstackers
I thought an awesome series would be seven ancient wonders - obviously a seven coin series. Nice historic designs - would look sweet.
Obviously they do exist in some form but an actual divisible one like a combi bar would be awesome, for collectibility different designs such as a stylised compass, treasure map, galleon, skull, treasure cheat, hidden cove... This may be my hand casting project ...
