Hi all, I'm a newbie to the silver stacking scene so the following may be wrong - I would love your feedback! The main reason I'm keen to build up a decent amount of silver is to survive a bit longer if (when) the SHTF in the near future. From a bit of research I concluded that (most) silver will be worth the same - based on weight, not design or rarity (is numeristics the right word to use here?) I then came across the divisible QSB Gold Panner and Northwest Territorial Stagecoach designs. I thought these would be ideal for making the silver more liquid if need be, however I can't find anyone who will ship to Australia (have I missed someone?) Source: qualitysilverbullion.com Source: nwtmint.com Anyway... out of interest I found a silver bullion producer in China and got a quote for creating a similar concept and I thought you might find it interesting. Perhaps if there were enough people we could get together and come up with a design? Below is the quote I received on the 10th of February with a spot price of around $33.50 USD The following is the price of our .999 pure silver coin or bar: 1.) 1 OZ /PC, 1OZ =31.1g mold fee: USD160 100PCS: USD38.1/PC 500PCS: USD37.3/PC 1000PCS:USD37.3/PC 2.) 5 OZ /PC, 1OZ =31.1g mold fee: USD254 100PCS: USD186.7/PC 500PCS: USD186.7/PC 1000PCS:USD185/PC 3.) 10 OZ /PC, 1OZ =31.1g mold fee: USD320 100PCS: USD369.9/PC 500PCS: USD369.9/PC 1000PCS:USD366.2/PC It's probably not worth it at these prices is it? It would be cool to have a community mint though!! Cheers Jimmy
Do you like sheep? I do. I like fluffy sheep. And shorn sheep, we call them Shaun here. Some call them Sean.
Mate, are you legit or just bullshitting. I quote from you: To me it looks like spam, please correct me if I'm wrong.
mmm...shiney? Are you posting under the influence...? Not a bad idea, it is being done by a bunch of swiss types as well, we are waiting for them to come over here so we can buy some, not cheap but pretty cool anyway. http://forums.silverstackers.com/message-278274.html#p278274
Here I go in naive mode. Not worth getting your own coins made because even if you can get them minted for spot you will only be able to sell them for spot and the buyers will only be able to sell them for spot because you are not a recognised dealer or source of premium silver coins, rounds or bars because you are a NOOB!!!! My advice to you is to save time and energy and buy from one of the recognised mints of the world. The links you have provided are quality product but are still not premium sources of silver and will only command at best, $3 over silver spot price at max. You have obviously not done your research because some silver coins have a higher premium than others. Edit to add: yes jis, totally under the influence and there are a million private issues of silver rounds in the world already, why do we need another lot?
Jislizard those Alcambi Combi Bar's look cool, however I was thinking silver (and possibly copper?) might be more tradable and divisible if (possible) hyperinflation pushes gold into even more of an unreachable price range? Shiney! You make good points, I forgot to mention the fact that not having a name or reputation would decrease the value... but yes, you're right, I am a NOOB. I have been buying recognised mints of the world, I was just wondering if the divisible concept was a goer and thought people might be interested in the prices..
Ah that's disappointing, I think BullionMoney was saying in the other thread that they had some 10 x 10g on the way? I would be keen for some 100 x 1g too - IF hyperinflation ever hits it would perfecto
I think I will stick with what I know and what everyone else knows. Would be nice to have your own little coin, might be a bit harder to convince anyone it is legit come time to sell it. It is getting to the point where you're not sure if known product is real, not going to trust something from left field.
All you'd need is to have them assayed and give a "silver stackers COA" with it but then thats a huge cost on top lol
Yep that makes a lot of sense DBP ! + Shipping on top of that makes it less economical. I ended up buying a couple of 1x100g Silver Valcambi Combibar's for $235USD each, bit steep but I like the concept http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/16072683...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_723wt_1114 SilverNash - Does SS make a COA? That's cool
