If my memory serves me correctly Howard's never ever comment was back in 1996. He won the election and put the GST on the table before the 1998 election. If Australia hated the GST concept they could have voted him out. Just like it was looking that Joolya was going to be voted out 6 days before the last election, then bang, one big porkie pie and the last remnants of Labor voters that were ready to get rid of her stayed. Her polls before that lie were no where near what she got on election day. (and still needed to lie to independents to get in)

Howard's use of the democrats in the senate can't be compared either.

Back on topic. The protection levels of the PM is an utter joke. Any halfwit with a stick could knock the PM off if they wanted to.

She's got sufficient security. She was never in any danger and the matter could probably have been settled pretty easily if they were fair dinkum and had a chat with those that were protesting. If there was the slightest danger possed by the aboriginal protestors in the tent embassy, they would be long gone.

What you have here is a few unarmed, peaceful protestors who have been occupying Canberra since before occupy was a movement who are sick of being ignored and treated as irrelevant.

Have a good look at those pictures, then consider leadership qualities represented. They dont need more goons with guns punching unarmed women in the face. What I feel they (tony and Julia)need is some backbone and confident humility.

They don't need to be further isolated from the people they represent like reigning monarchs. Geez, they didn't even cop any eggs from the crowd. The only injury they suffered were at the hands of their minders as they rushed to escape like the cowards they are.

The only sad part of this story is that they didn't get her and do the world a favour.

Golly. The cops should have beaten the crap out of those idiots. Give an inch and they want a mile, and even then it's never enough.

I did a straw poll at work today.

1/4 of the people said yes Liberal Party said that they'd bring in the GST. 3/4 said that they (Libs) never did.

Atlas your post is absolutely unacceptable in this forum. GP please delete it. This place has a higher standard.

Can you imagine Queen Elizabeth or President Obama being manhandled by their security staff. Wouldn't happen. This was a complete security failure.

Pretty good country when one can protest, cuss, spit the dummy and not get shot at. Gingerella looks like shes just been traumatized by Centrelink rules and regulations or did she just come out of CSA or Family law. Perhaps she was denied legal aid or just got a legal bill for some administrative cock up that she was defending that was not her fault lolz. Oh I know, talking to a dam faceless machine on the phone, haha . BTW I have a blue high heel shoe up for auction. :)

    LOVE IT

Oz will have 15% GST by 2020.
An 'emergency' will mean all the states agree to hike it up.

It's an oppressive tax by the PTB introduced to crush the people.

Who the hell died and made you mod mr 50 damn posts? Get off your damn moral pedastal you clown and stop throwing a tantrum

It's a political discussion and shock horror, not everyone thinks the same way you do about our political leaders.

Last I checked, having an opinion wasn't against the rules and I damn well stand by my point.

I think it's fantastic these cretins were scared shitless for once, maybe next time they decide to stick the boot into their electorate they'll wonder if that might come back to haunt them in similar fashion to this?

Atlas you clown, your post has nothing to do with politics, but everything to do with fostering hatred. Get it.

In your case 850 posts doesn't make you wise, just loquacious. Get a life.

I thought that comment was so ludicrous it was made in jest ......

"Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty."

    something to think about ....
