Make sure you understand about EXIF data, which may include GPS co-ordinates before you post any pictures. Otherwise you may as well just leave your stash at the front door so the crooks dont have to bother trashing your house when they come to get it.
We have had that problem on here before. I did a massive EXIF purge of a couple of gigabytes of photos.
Everyone has something to hide . If you reallly liked a catholic girl and you were a protestant living in Ireland, you might be reluctant to tell her folks of your religious persuasion ps.. loved the first lot of replies to this thread. Unfortunately, MANY if not ALL of us here have had some terrible luck. We're all avid sailors and had the horrific misfortune of having our loot go down with our vessels. I'm thinking of buying some good quality gear, taking some dive training and going into recover it. If you wanna help, meet me in the pacific. Any extra hands to help would be more than appreciated.
Ok so what is EXIF data, and how do you know if your uploading your address to a GPS if you take a photo with a phone, just for thoes of us who don't do tech speak.
Ah, I never thought someone could determine where my address is through the uploaded picture, won't be doing that then! Thanks everyone. Luckily my stash is locked up in the bank.
Essentially it is data stored with a digital image file. It really depends what device you used to get the image. Nowdays, digital phones and cameras have GPS tracking, so you can conveniently locate the places you took your photos. The downside to this GPS tracking is that when you take photos at home (which is usually fairly obvious), your home location is being recorded. If you use a PC, using Windows 7, I believe you can remove EXIF data by doing the following: - right click on the image file, choose 'Properties' - click on the 'Details' tab - click 'Remove Properties and Personal Information' link at the bottom You'd have to do that for each image file. Not sure how to do it on Macs and such, as Eureka suggested, best to Google it. Alternatively, you can often disable GPS location recording on the photographic device you use, but that's up to you to figure out.
Here's a shot of my basement: This is at a buddy's house: This is a shot from the guy who mows my lawn: And this is the house-keepers stash: Last and not least, this is from the local Girl-Guides cookie jar:
So now the ATO knows you have a stack and may come knocking when the price goes up, and they are desperate. Not a good idea to skite about what you have.
I must say I am impressed that no-one else offered their stack details. @evansr33 Incidentally, keeping your stash at the bank has it's own perils. Make sure you are aware of them.
