Any advice on credible places to buy Silver Bullion in Brisbane? I will be buying through a SMSF and have researched the matter however I would like get the heads up from some local people . I will be stacking .
Welcome to SS . Ainslie Bullion Company are located in Queen St Brisbane. The only bullion company I know of around these parts. Opinions vary ,but I believe they give good service ..prices ...you will have to research that for yourself. Why not buy on here? There are numerous site sponsors. I highly recommend Aurora et Luna in Sydney .A fair dealer and very helpful.
Thankyou for replying. I will be buying over a six month period as I get funds coming into my SMSF each month.I would like to take physical delivery hence my preference to go local. I have assumed that buying away from Brisbane will cost more with freight and insurance? I would be buying 100 oz bars. On that matter...is there any type of 100 oz bar that are the best in terms of liquidity? It seems that the internet sites promote Swiss/Canada and Perth Mint?
Two points I could make here. Don't assume you will buy cheaper locally because you don't pay postage..the online dealers can often be way better than bricks and mortar businesses And when it comes to 100 oz bars ..you are basically buying a big door stopper...Pamp may be more liquid ,but silver is still silver and if spot takes off ,you will be fighting off the offers
I am in Brisbane and I prefer to buy from Ainsley Bullion and have always found them extremely helpful and competitive with price. If you have any questions Kawa feel free to PM me and I would be happy to help Regards Nick
Thanks for the info.Looks like a friendly forum with some good pointers. I see that some members have trade numbers etc. Do you guys actually trade between each other as a secondary market?
I have contacetd Ainslie's in Brisbane and will likely buy 3 1 kg bars next weekl as a starter.Their bars on this forum look different to say Perth Mint? Is there an issue with this or is it just about weight? I prefer to buy local so I can pick up.Their prices seem very good also?
Perth Mint bars carry a premium so are a bit more than generics (ie Ainslies etc) but you get that back and will find them much easier to sell when the time comes to unload. There is a comment on here somewhere that someone made today about how difficult it was to get rid of the generic bars and that only 2 dealers were prepared to buy them at spot less 7% and less 10%. Silver is not always silver when it comes to you wanting to sell! malachii
Thanks for that.It has made me consider going with a brand.I appreciate your help. Do you think going with 10 oz bars is better for liquidity whilst paying the premium? In your opinion is the Perth mint as good as the Canadian product for resale? Thanks.
You'll have no trouble selling perth mint products in Australia and most places overseas. 10 oz bars are very liquid although the larger the bar - the lower the premium. I wouldn't go above the 1kg bars as you will find them harder (although not impossible) to move. However - in my opinion - premium is not the big bogey man that some make it out to be. If you pay a premium now (within reason of course), you will get the premium back when you sell. The best thing is where you can buy a product for very little premium and then have the premium grow (ie semi numismatic). This way you capture the increase in spot and the increase in premium. Lunars and Kooks are good examples of this if you buy them at issue price. malachii
I think I will go with the smaller bars and research the coin option. Thanks for your reply.I appreciate it.
