    Never used Ebay.

But this person has heaps of positive feedback.

So you can change your Ebay name, and still keep all of your good feedback. Huh! Sounds a bit dodgy for Ebay to allow this.

I am not put off by general sellers who may trade in collectables with no real interest in silver or coins. Sometimes they sell good quality proofs or rare coins at bullion prices. Their lack of detailed knowledge provides us with occasional bargains on e-bay. Those sorts of rare coins are very unlikely to be fake and the only problem is damage to the coin usually caused by poor handling. That is the risk you take by buying from the sorts of dealers, but my experience from Australian sellers is good.

I checked and he's still listing. Did you tell eBay? If another buyer contacted you, it seems to be more than an isolated incident. Maybe this seller has other complaints. Whatever the case may be, sellers like this who have made multiple "mistakes" should not be able to continue selling. But, that's just my rant on the sub.

I bought a few bullion of eBay a few weeks about, but stopped since I became a member of this board and becoming more educated on the subject - thanks to you fine Gents.

It would appear someone has set up a bogus ebay account and now bid $1000 on each item to guarantee no-one else will "win" the auction. Nothing like frauding a fraudster.... get everything they deserve..... :) Saved a few innocent novices from being fleeced I hope !

On the ebay item page hit "Report item".

    Report Category: Listing practices

Reason for report: Fraudulent listing activities

Detailed reason: You suspect that a listing is fraudulent.

In my experience this gets Ebay's attention better than reporting as "Prohibited and restricted items".

Having 3 auctions run and never being paid sure gets the sellers attention :)

How do you know they've bid $1000 when you can't see their bid?

Sellers cant see max bids. But I bet you that the max bidder now will be the max bidder at the end of the auction and there wont be any payment made....

hmmm, better to snipe it at last 5 seconds. If seller realises what's going on, likely to cancel the bid

Yep, he will msg ebay as follows...

    "Dear ebay,

I have been trying to sell these fakes as the real thing. I would be happy to receive bids around the value of real silver bars but have noticed that someone has bidded well in excess of this amount. I wish to cancel these bids as I get the feeling that someone is trying to rip me off. Surely I should be entitled to defraud people as I see fit without receiving dodgy bids.

    Yours sincerely
    R. Sole"

Although the seller can still offer those that dont win a 2nd chance offer so they might still get scammed.
