Hi Xxxxx, thanks for your interest in Pandas. I would like to write more on this topic, but I am getting ready for a Christmas party dinner that's about to start. But briefly. I recommend getting the BIG 3 Silver Pandas. These are: 2000 Mirror: BU population estimates <15,000 1995 Micro Date with Small Twig: BU population estimates <4,000 1999 with Serif: BU population estimates <7,000 [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_img_2498.jpeg][/imgz][imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_img_2502.jpeg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_1999ob.jpeg][/imgz][imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_1999re.jpeg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_1995ob.jpeg][/imgz][imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_1995remd.jpg][/imgz] Each of these one ounce Pandas are: a) incredibly rare - very low population estimates. b) expensive to buy - usually between $1000-$2000 depending on condition. c) and hard to find - they don't often show up. Please note, my main Panda specialty is restricted to silver Pandas (because that is all that my budget really allows). BUT, I think there are some really fantastic gold coins that are worth investigating/investing-in too. I will try and write more on this topic in the next couple of days. But hopefully this is a quick step in the right direction I'm sure there are many knowledgeable people in the Panda Forum that could help too. I pay particular attention to (in no specific order): Panda Collector - he literally wrote the Panda Book on Panda coins, and has a monthly subscription that tracks the latest auction prices around the world (in fact, I think he's in Hong Kong nabbing some Pandas now) (USA). Tamo42 - this guy has been tracking Panda prices for a long time, and has had some great successes with his recommendations (USA). 25Grizzlies - awesome Panda collector from Melbourne. He specifically targets rare Pandas (and Modern Chinese coins). (AUS) [I can't wait to go hunting with him early next year in Shanghai] Comeaux - I haven't seen a more inspiring collection of Pandas before... truly amazing. (USA) I think he has been investing in Pandas for a similar reason as you too. For the next generation. Badon - like Tamo42, he is a Panda expert when it comes to recommendations. You can find him over at the China Coin Forum and LiveBusinessChat Forum. (USA) I'll put this question up in the Panda Forum, as I'm sure some of the experts can provide some further advice, especially in regards to gold Pandas. Thanks heaps for your really interesting question, Yennus
Comeaux is from USA ps. I agree 25Grizzlies is the best to talk to locally if you want to invest in super rare Pandas/Chinese coins, his insight is pretty good and I find myself more often than not spamming his inbox with queries
