Agreed that is basically what I was referring to in my post. Those dates you mentioned but also older, much harder to find pandas as well.

IMO regarding 1 oz Silver BU Pandas, the 2005 is a sleeper.
Estimated surviving population of 480,000 and can usually be attained in OMP for the same price as 2009's & 2010's

True. But when was the last time you saw a panda looking anything else but?
At the moment I live in Adelaide, home of two, well, fat and lazy pandas. The Govt had mounted a media campaign trying to convince the locals how lucky we were to have them here { took some attention off things like their opposition to having a independent commission into corruption}.

I like it, not as a collector but it's a nice design. I'll pick up 5 just to keep it different.

    I got a 2009 Panda that I don't want anymore :)

Are these designed by the same person who did the 2009-2011 designs (do they make part of that tao) they don't really look like they are interacting

I think that the baby panda is cute so I like the design even if the bamboo background is the same as before. However, I'm more interested in the larger size coins (5 oz. or kilo) due to the more limited mintage and it will emphasize the design much more. I have 5 oz. panda coins and the design looks amazing on the larger coins, not to mention that the prices have more than doubled since I bought them when they were first issued.

In my opinion, this has both pros and cons. One one hand, this means that the value of the older 5 oz. silver pandas I bought before will have the potential to increase even more. It's also possible that the higher mintage will keep the asking price for the 5 oz. coin at a reasonable amount so more collectors can enjoy this beautiful coin. On the other hand, no collector is happy whenever mintages go up and I'm one of them.

Valid points ... that is one reason I also like the higher mintages, older coins with lower mintage will increase in value

I like the design and will buy some next year... currently buying older pandas.
Got a double sealed 2003 and another 2002 yesterday!! 2002 defo has more upside potential, plus i don't think many graded highly so if you have a few that need grading you may just get lucky! :)
