Hi everyone, I am here in chang mai thailand near "silver street" and saw quite a few old French coins. Most of the Brit, Aus and US coins are gone, although I saw some 1964 Kennedy's and a few 1900s Morgans. I just did my diligence and discovered that the dated coins in the subject line have the most value I was wondering how many of you have any in your collections ? would appeciate hearing any feedback before I bust in there and clean them out The coins I saw were dark and all get out so I reckon they are legit The asking price was 600 Baht which is about 20 USD
hi, one of my friend went there last year and he bought some for me, French indo Chine, but all of them are fake, they priced at 15-20 USD ea, therefore you need to make sure if they are real or not. the real market price for US morgan 1900 around 35-70. 1965-1973 10 F worth silver price around 20 bucks.
FAKES! Don't walk away, run away. Ask Aurora Et Luna for a first hand account. Got a fake seated liberty dollar here from there. Zero silver content.

ok much thanks ! It looked kinda strange actually so I priced them then went back to check net prices. I think one or two of them might be legit but for example there was a 1806 dated coin that was fresh as a daisy I will take some snaps of them tomorrow and post them on this thread. My plan is to only buy the 64 kennedy and the "dirty" francs in those years. But prior to actually paying any fiat I will try and rub the patina off to see if its shoe polish. very much appreciated guys silverstackers rocks
The 10 Franc coin is 25gr and has a content of 90% silver. The 50 Franc coin is 30gr and has also a content of 90% silver. That are not really rare coins and you should be able to get them at spot +10% max. To check if it is a fake use a simple magnet and a small scale, thats all. If you find a 50Franc piece from 1980 you are the winner. It has a very low mintage and a nice premium in France.

Hi, bit hard to identify those coins via viedo but from my view, all of them are fakes. reason: all those coins have same oxygenation. example like florins, I picked up 120 pieces Florins last week with 925 silver contect and they have different oxygened colours, some greenish,some brownish, some blackish,some darkish, some golden some uncirculated, but those france coin from video all in two colours: blackish and uncirculated. furthermore, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq8f1oHteCE&feature=related at 0.08-0.12 shows the same fake coin with your second video at 0.38, take a look : )

I had a suspicion that "some" were legit and actually did the diligence to determine which franc coins were worth purchasing since the shop had a fixed price for all the coins. However I got sidetracked and didn't buy any of them for fear I wouldn't get a legit coin. C'est la guerre

Yes this particular piece has obvious hairlines on the surface. It was the first piece I bought some 2 yrs ago and it was sold as circulated condition. Bought a bunch subsequently that's all in BU mint condition. Paid something like US$12-$14 each if I remembered correctly.
