She doesn't want to give it back. Its stamped and is as good as a coin or bar and you can use it instead of just storing it in your safe. try going after sterling silver, you can buy gobs of it for spot price... and good pieces. earrings, necklaces, rings, etc. most little pieces in the store for $9.99 have about .50 melt value, so if you're buying wearable jewelry for spot, you're way ahead... especially as spot goes up. usable jewelry can carry a premium on the resale to a buyer of jewelry... after all you don't go to the jewelry shop picking out rings at spot price, their premium is often 50-100% or more. on the downside, its very hard to stack jewelry.... maybe a silver-piler instead of silver-stacker
i have gotten a few good deals mainly pre-decimal coins for under spot with postage but the best deal i got was 2 x $10 paper notes for $17 inc postage
