    Hi there,

looking at buying approximately 2oz worth of gold, with plans to hold it for a couple of years before selling, can anyone recommend a gold purchase? finding it difficult to make up my mind.

    thanks in advance.

Premiums are higher than your generic roo or lunar or sovereign but I think they have growth potential that's why I stack Gold pandas. The Silver pandas have 200%+ premiums over spot price but some Gold pandas can be had for < 25% over spot premium which is a bargain imo.

Bias due to the fact that I'm selling pandas at the moment :p

Also taking a chance that my pandas will be *the next big year* thing, currently 1993 1/4oz Gold pandas sell for over $750 US but 2 months ago they were under $600 US.

thanks Fishball, I've noticed your enthusiasm regarding Panda's :) and appreciate your response. At this stage the world of Panda's is daunting, ill have to research more.

1 x 1oz .999 coin of your choice. (something to admire)
2 x 1/4 .999 coins OR 1/2 .999 coin OR equiv cost in world gold coins (sovereigns, half sovs, etc) (premiums aren't too bad in this size)
remainder (approx 1/2 oz) in 5gram perth mint carded. (low premiums compared to 1/10th coins, easy for you to sell a bit of gold if you want to)

Well one of our site sponsors was trying to sell some ABC loungs, at a very good price. Lovely lumps of gold they are. Low premium, highly recommend.

Will find the post and link.

Agree thucy if you want to buy fractionals, every one should have fractionals, but you also need pure bullion blobs too. Depends on budget I guess. And pandas close to spot are also a steal.

Problem is it's not a "move" more of a financial restraint

For someone in the US, I would recommend the gold eagles. My reason is that there is a decent chance that the price appreciation will be tax free.

Outside of the US, it is much more complicated. If someone is going to keep his/her gold until it reaches several thousand USDs an ounce, I would go with the cheapest bullion that is popular in the area you live in. Ease of selling is more important that ease of buying.
