I would prefer offers of fiat, but I'm open to trades, especially Panda trades of 2010s and 2011s :)

PANDA HUNT DAY TWO: Rare Gold & Bi-Metallic Pandas

Well today was exciting. I had the usual shopping list of standard BUs which went well; and tried hunting for more of the BIG THREE.

The BIG THREE today were very elusive, and none of acceptable quality could be found. A few Mirror 2000 Pandas were available, but many had cosmetic issues, as did some of the 1995 Serif Pandas.

It could be that the Shanghai watering grounds are drying up, and I might need to start venturing out further abroad to find more of these rare BU Pandas. The markets in Beijing and Guangzhou are always a possibility, but it takes a lot of time and money to go there purely for a Panda Hunt.

Nevertheless, I did come across these very very rare proof bears.
    1/2oz Gold + 1/5oz Silver mintage: 2800
    1/4oz Gold + 1/8oz Silver mintage: 2800
    1/10oz Gold + 1/28oz Silver mintage: 2800
Their price? Almost $12,000AUD for the set. Not a BARGAIN... but your wouldn't expect a BARGAIN at this level.

I also stumbled upon this almost complete set of 1998 Gold Pandas. A complete set usually goes for about $20,000AUD. These are a bit red spotted, but from what I hear, NCS can fix a lot of that nowadays. If anyone can find me an available 1/2oz 1998 Gold Panda, I am interested :)

I've been looking for the Munich bears too, but haven't come across any so far.

    All I can say is...

    wow.

I think red spots can be fixed by the process of 'baking' the coin, but I thought only the Chinese did that not NCS?

    They wouldn't sell you that '97 1/10 + 1/28th as a single?

Hahaha... yeah, I'm interested to learn how the baking process works.

The NCS method is also pretty fantastic. I'm also keen to learn how they do it.

Yennus maybe you should come to GZ and check out the coin shops here.

My first time going and I was blown away. Their is like a small mall. Full of coin and stamp places. It was like a mini coin show :) Saw at least 2 serious panda dealers. This was on friday, the holiday, So their was some stores that were close. I'm still new to pandas and was totally blown away by the amounts I saw. I brought your masterlist for prices and started to ask them. For the most part it was similar to what I was getting quoted.

Also close by their is apparently another district like that says my cousin.

will be going back their tmr to pick up a lunar set. one of the few lunars I saw. maybe if you need a price quote or any items I can ask for them.

Hey HustliN! Oh wow! That would be so cool! Vancouver is like one of the best places on Earth!

    And they got Pandas too!

I miss the skiing near your city too.

Skiing and Pandas... they are both related tasks... both pleasurable :)

Thanks heaps for your offer. Much appreciated.

PANDA HUNT DAY TWO.ONE: Official Release PBOC 2002 Carded Pandas

For those that have been to the Panda talks hosted at the SydneyStacker Meets, some may have noticed an uncommon Panda. I only had one, and it disappeared quickly. In fact until recently I only had seen two of these, but they had been quickly sold when I was in need of cash. Maybe they are common, but I hadn't seen many of these before.

It was a 2002 Carded Panda! Yep, Carded... not double sealed... not OMP... carded :)

Here are some pics of what a Carded 2002 Panda looks like. I haven't opened it up fully, as I don't want to damage the cardboard holder it is in. But hopefully you can still make it out.

    [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_img_2228.jpeg][IMG][/imgz][imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_img_2229.jpeg][IMG][/imgz][imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_img_2230.jpeg][IMG][/imgz][imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/675_img_2231.jpeg][IMG][/imgz]

The 2002 series when released was regarded as the least popular Panda, since it was a recycle of the same design in 2001. As a result, not many sold (in comparison to previous years), and some say this encouraged the Mint to ensure each year would have a different design.

Fortunately for those who have the 2002 Pandas, they are not as common as their 2001 brothers, and their value may yet increase as a result of their relative rarity.

What is interesting to note with these Carded 2002 Pandas, is that the quality of the Pandas in these Carded containers are amazingly well preserved. Pretty much zero toning, and no scratches. I can easily state that the preservation of these Carded 2002 Pandas appear to be much better than the usual original mint packaging and capsule they are normally served in.

At this stage, I only know of 2 people that have these Carded Pandas in Australia. There are probably many more of course.

I'm kinda split over whether to get these graded or not... the packaging is nice, but the coin is in such fine condition, I'm sure it would do very well.

I have one with someone's name on it: **nk**na** Congratz mate! :) [Thanks for your patience... found it at last] :)

I now have five double sealed 2002 pandas and agree with you yennus, definate upside potential for the reasons you have stated.

A double sealed 2002 panda was given to me as part of an order of 10 2011 pandas a couple of weeks back so i got a 2002 for the price of a 2011! Score :D

yennus you will not see these very frequently ...

I lucked out and found one on ebay with some guy selling all kinds of random things and he had one of these ... it was the only coin in his items being sold so I'm not sure he even knew what it was ... I got it for spot price :)

I will GLADLY buy some of these if you have any "extra" to sell :D
