That is true. The key is educating the punters, but do the punters care about being educated?

I submitted a listing complaint to eBay on this one deliberately misleading title.

    That's quite a story.
That and the fake opal sellers in the markets.

It's pretty hard to find a decent supplier of minerals in general on ebay, and some of the local websites need better search engines before they are usable. Some just lay out their wares in pages :/
At least there's enough detail on one particular auction site.

It all goes to show just important credibility is and how us stackers must stick together when the proverbial hits the fan. We will really need each other - now and in the future. I have worked for a fraud and got my butt out of there as soon as it all clicked as to what he was up to. People like that exude evil and severe negative energy that can affect your life. We occasionally get singed by the effects of a sheister, but just don't get scorched. Keep an extinguisher at the ready!

    G,day, George here.
Boo Hoo. some bloke is selling bars on ebay.
Have a bloody look at em, I can't cast them, then gold plate em or silver plate them for a lousy $10.00.
Wake up to yourselves. The man is trading in trinkets.
As for TONKA toys, I still call em a truck, yeah just like match box cars.
"Beam me down Scotty" anyone who thinks he can buy 1 troy oz. of .999 gold for $10.00 needs their head read.
Oh what joy being able to give a $10.00. bar to someone, instead of the alternative.
So leave the bloke alone and get on with ya ball scratching and nose picking. Ya starting to sound like a bunch of old sheilas.
    G,day, George here.

    G,day, George here.
Yeah like I said, a bunch of old sheilas.
Boo hoo, can't get my way so I'll threaten you with violence.
Take your red nose, funny shoes, wig and over sized duds and go back to what you do best.
Oh! take your gun too. You may need it to defend yourself against the truth.
    G,day, George here.

eBay has many, many flaws, but they do have buyer protection, which actually works.
If someone lists an item as pure silver and it's plated, that's fraud.
If they list it as plated, then no fraud. It's genuine and anyone has the right to sell it.

Calling people girls for cryin about it is a pretty strong opinion, but that's what it is...an opinion. Responding with a request for the person to die is...is...well, its as over the top and inappropriate as it gets.
It's one thing to want people thrown in jail for not believing as you, like many wish, it's another to wish death upon them! SMH

Me too, believe it, ZERO tolerance. But IMO if the listing states clearly it's plated, then I don't see how it could be fraud.

Now I have seen posts that are obviously deceitful, like the title leads you to believe it's pure, then in the description, in tiny letters it will say plated. I feel like that's not enough, that it should be in the listing title as well.

George? It would seem to me that you have a bit of an attitude problem - what went wrong, mommy swapped out the happy pills this morning for the grumpy ones?

Or, did someone from here actually manage to give you a taste of what you deserve (assuming you're the chap that was trying to con people by selling dodgy stuff on a certain site)?

I'll leave you with a thought that may require mommy to give you an extra dose of happy pills tomorrow... Do unto others.

Your turn will come, and have a fantastic day! :D

    I think the same.

I'm surprised they can sell something that looks so similar to the American Silver Eagle.
The best form of protest is to not use ebay's services. I never thought I would, but I'm no longer an eBay member, though regrettably I still rely on PayPal (an eBay company).

Yes, if it's INTENTIONALLY misleading it is fraud and I think the use of .999 to describe plated bars is an intentional ploy. But I've seen some people selling plated that go out of their way to make sure viewers know they're plated, so that's ok with me. You can't ban a legitimate product just because some people try to trick people with it.

Just a reminder - sales of plated, layered, "100 mills", German silver, Tibetan silver, HGE mini-coins etc are all prohibited on Silver Stackers.

FAR too many new stackers have been burnt by buying such rubbish on eBay, and many a member has joined Silver Stackers as a result of doing some searching and finding one of the warning threads on here. When you're new to an investment and you hear terms like "Swiss gold" and "German silver", it easy to see how people get burnt buying imitations.

One good use for plated, layered, "100 mills" etc is to have a few semi-hidden around the house as decoys for would be thieves. :)
