Yep same. I went to a couple of banks and i didn't like there service especially Westpac on Collins st, they just kept asking me what i was going to put in the box.
Banks can provide Safety deposit boxes from as little as $60/annum. Very cost effective and secure. REDBACK
Given that the business is also Guardian Gold... they have a fair idea of what the majority of people store. One of the directors has also been along to the Melbourne SS meetings.
Guardian Vaults. I've even done a transaction down there: box-to-box. Very easy. No platinum postage needed there, my friend. As for bank safe deposit boxes, I thought the consensus amongst SS was that if a bank goes belly-up, you may have no access, or even lose your PM's...?
Oh yeah... eggs, basket... spread your risk. Although the likelihood of a house burglary in Australia is about a million times more likely than safe deposit loss.
the issue is finding the right bank with security as good as guardian vault and if that branch has any safety deposit boxes available. I visited several bank in the city and none of them have any available and need you on a waiting list e.g there was one branch which facility looks so old, it look like it was last renovated in the 1970s
Banks are Rock solid and have excellent security and on that note you would have to be a rugby player to carry what i have stored in mine. There are no issues with Bank safety deposit boxes, they are cheap provide good access and good security. The con's mentioned are mostly over exaggerated you just have to get on the phone and call around. If banks were such a soft target there would be more Robberies and nobodies interested in Bullion in a safety deposit box.The logistics in carrying the stuff out and off loading would make the cash a far more viable target. Don't forget the weakest link in any Security system is the Human component, insurance companies always find their weak link there. And what GP said spread your risk, use as many options as you can REDBACK
We used to have a 'staff' safe deposit box that was a freebie. Was talking to the manager, who was an old work mate of mine back in the olden days, and we were talking about what was stored there. He had works of art, furs, boxes of rare books, etc etc etc. Some of the boxes etc were simply on any spare space he had to put them, far too big for the biggest slide out facility. He also voiced the opinion that most of the drugs were stored there, and if a cop sniffer dog came in he would go mad. OC OC
