Okay, been given the word that the embargo ended today, not 1st September - so here they are: Perth Mint Series II Lunar 2012 Year of the Dragon: I'd just like to thank the forum for respecting (with a couple of small slipups!) the request to honour the commercial embargo that was placed on any leaking of these images prior to today - I know it's been annoying for anyone who hasn't seen them to date when they've been released (and subsequently retracted) elsewhere on the internet for the past few weeks. Here's a few "before and after" comparisons... Series I Lunar 2000 Year of the Dragon: Silver Series I compared to Series II: Gold Series I compared to Series II: Silver is a mirror image design of 2000's dragon, gold is entirely new.
i like the fireball on the gold, but the silver dragon>>>>gold dragon just looks more detailed...more scales, better tail.
i must admit......i got sucked into all this hype about these dragons......nice designs ......great to complete and add to the lunar series..............but nothing to rave about IMHO...................i'll stand against the wall now and get shot down........hahaha
The gold dragon looks like its having some kind of involuntary spasm. Or dancing to a Midnight Oil song. Same thing really.
LOl, its a complete mirror image. The face of the gold dragon .... so pathetic, the fire ball looks like its spit.
The silver dragon is a mirror reverse of the series 1 silver dragon. So now, series I dragon and series II dragon form a set =D. This may cause the series I dragon to further increase in value lol. Slam
I just thought of a great way for the Perth Mint to make even more money cashing in on dragons: whack an Epilepsy Awareness Week privvy on the gold dragon and release another 30k coins as a "limited release".
The gold dragon looks like an anorexic T-Rex. Is this the real design????!!!! Appologies to those who like it, but it's really not that pretty.
Or Anorexia Week. I think the gold dragon is ugly. the 2000 year silver coin design is by far my favourite.
I thought the gold dragon was playing football, looks like he has just stopped the ball with his chest and is about to do a big Kick for the goal, it's not football season again is it? maybe this is a product tie-in. The Silver one is still nice, I look forward to not being able to get any...
You'd think that between dragon to dragon, there's 12 years! in between that there's enough imagination (and time) to create something great. But instead, just reverse the silver die, and just morph t-rex. If they weren't so rare, now would you still buy them???
ok so the 2012 gold is not that easy on the eye - it looks like it has burnt itself out! but it is more visually interesting than the 2000 gold. at least they have created something different. the new silver one is less cluttered than the old. i like it
The gold one ... I am only buying a few, to complete series 2 set. But I am not keen to hoard the gold dragon this time. Silver dragon still ok.
