Those are hefty size bars. Will they buy them back from you? What is they're buyback price for those bars vs bars and coins in smaller weights?

you can readily buy and sell 15kg bars from bullion dealers and very close to spot price.

If you were in Melbourne there's an option to flip them into 1kg bars - but the cost of the service means you need to pick when to do it - sometimes kilo bars sell at lower premiums than what it costs, but other times it's cheaper to get them converted.

Ainsley will definetly take them back (in a second)... no worries there... but they're a pr!ck to lug around in your backpack!
They (used to be) a cheap way to buy silver (v-low premiums) but they're also cheapest when it comes time to sell.
It's an easy way to store wealth... no inventory of coins bars etc to keep track of. But it's a big chunk of change to be tied up in 1 block.
They come odd weights (eg 14.57kgs)...so make sure it's price is calculated correctly...not a problem with Ainsley though

buyback is guarenteed via Ainslie as well as any other reputable dealer. a few have moved on this forum as well.
Ainslie buyback price is $5 per kg less than what they offer for a 1kg bar... but its cheaper to buy as well so evens out.
You should be able to sell it at spot price on this forum without too much of a hassle.

I've lifted a few of these babies, nice way to store I reckon.

As GP said, you can always split it into key bars when the time is right. To me, for the price you can't go wrong. That, said, I am rather biased towards the uglier bar...

Compare it to a 15kg PAMP or PM case deal if you wanted to - see the difference...

Thanks people...not too worried about the lugging factor since am going long in a vault. Will look further re melt down. Was tad concerned re resell time, buying cheap/selling seems kosha.

RhythmDoc am keen on the Big Meet if not working...no buy/selling just to have a poke around if thats OK.

Steampunks wittyness ...'That's why one should build a house out of them, then the big bad wolf want blow the house down
And the aliens/men in black suits want be able to read your mind..' had drink come flying out my nose all over the keys...very ha.

My price point of reference is at goldprice.org for full chart on ABC Bullion 15 kg Silver Bars available from Australian Silver Bars Dealers.
Their price dated friday 19 aug '11 is 20617 dollars per 15 kg bars...theyre yet to up date to this weeks price.
