On a Lydian related matter, does anyone know where I can get Athenian Owl rounds? I love the look of them but can't find them anywhere (searched the bay and some online stores that I know off). I'm watching some lions on eBay.

Maybe try ordering them direct from the mint or their US distributors?

It's actually pretty hard to source information about this mint's stuff, no idea why that is so !

Theres a couple of UK coin companies who may distribute internationally, might be worth a look into...

I quite like their 5oz bars! gorgeous! :)

The lions are doing pretty well on fleabay around 50-60 each :|

Saw a few owls but those auctions ended in 2010 September, I think a lot of people are just hoarding them now.

I saw some of the UK distributors - the price looked great so I had a closer look - started the order for 10 rounds - then they added 20% Vat then shipping and the final price came to nearly 50 pound per round. That was when I hit cancel on the order.

The Lydian website is very light on information. The only thing I know for sure is that the 2009 Athenian Owls are sold out.

I think you will struggle to get mintage information out of them but I would say an email direct to the mint is the best chance also

    50 quid a round? Not a chance!

I wonder if I could buy them and have them delivered to go with my UK holding... then again I'm not overly passionate about them, though I'd say 10 of those 5oz bars'd make a nice stack... Not happy with VAT on top of fine silver. Bloody ridiculous.

Lydian Mint closed for june stock take. They haven't had Owls for sale for a long time.
There is no mintage details available, for 2009, 2010 and 2011.

    Thanks Maggie.

Do you know if the 2009-2011 Lydian rounds are all the same size, just different years imprinted?

    Cheers.

ps. these paw prints on the lion rounds look so cuteeeeeee :D
