The 1883 Melbourne is Shield Sovereign not the St. George.
From the PM only the 1926 marked as Rare.
The list here is very rare at least.

1899-P is also marked as R in the Jubilee and Revised Editions of Marsh, though probably not as super rare as those others listed R2 - R7 in Marsh

A couple of years ago I was also umming and ahhing over whether to pick up an 1880-S shield reverse, inverted A for V in Victoria. It was in decent condition, but had a nick on the effigy's cheek which ultimately made me decide against picking it up. Asking price was maybe only a couple of thousand at the time (can't remember the actual asking price now), but alas not to be. Rated R2 in the revised edition of Marsh

I only have 2 1925 Sydney, marked S (Scare) in the 1980 book, but one of them is UNC.
