    Greetings.
    New member question.
Is it even possible to find the 1966 50 cent coins in circulation any more?
    I have never found one.
    Regards.

I think you are about 40-50 years too late if you wished to have a chance to find one in your change @gargun.

You would probably have a far greater chance of winning the tattslotto than finding one in your change these days.

They were melted down in bulk. Still a good amount in private hands but not really circulating.

I did find one in my change back in the late 70s when I was still a school boy.

Went to the corner milkbar with my mate for some snacks, the proprietor was a Greek guy who had not been long in the country.

He handed us the change and there it was a round silver 50-cent coin!

Had a bit of a scuffle with my mate over who the coin would belong to.

Oh the joy and excitement of youth.

Anything's possible. I did hear of someone on this forum getting a gold sovereign in their change. :)

I got a three pence as a 5 cent piece in change in 2020. That was pretty remarkable to think how long that had been circulating.

In 1992 I got 14 round 50's in one hit in change. I suspect some kid had done a raid on mum or dads shoe box for packet of ciggies.

Hmmmm....unlikely to find one, but, what the hell, I think I will give it a go noodling anyway.
I figure even if I only find one a year, it's more productive checking coins at the kitchen table than watching ads on t.v.

I suggest you look for 2000 $1 mules or wavy 66 20cents. Much more likely to find and worth a lot more if you find them

found a sixpence aussie one post 1945, relative has found florin and 1966 50c, post 2018 so yes they are possible but not very likely even if you noodle more than 10K in change. Paper note where also basically disappearing post 2000.
