Has anyone had problems with F2F at a bank? Always a chance of a desperado doing a snatch and grab...So my protocols (depending on rep on here) would be:
    1) Can view coin while in my hand but not hold it (like at any coin dealer ship with a HV coin). Can assay (if required) with coin cap removed but at all times in my hand.
    2) Give bank details if buyer accepts; buyer goes directly to a teller and deposits.
    3) Check account on phone for deposit.
    4) Hand over coin.

Step 1 can be lax I suppose if trader has long standing rep here. But those are my protocols since I get the vibe these are desperate times.
What do people think? Please comment.

Also a side question: With deposits over 5k anyone had experiences of funds been frozen until they determine your not a errorist...
    Thanks.

I've never felt the need to go to a bank. Have always met in public areas, shopping centres, cafe's etc. If it's for security, there are pretty much cameras everywhere these days so I think any public place should be fine.

What makes you think deposits of $5k get frozen ?

Never had any trouble with F2F deals. Did them in all sorts of places like cafes, hotels, maccas carpark, but never a bank.

I have had trouble getting cash out of the bank, when they ask me "what's it for", my usual answer is I'm going to the races.

FTW. If things are seriously that bad and you need to put yourself through that much mental anguish over a little piece of gold or silver I personally wouldn't sell it.

I try to look on the bright side of life and I would hope most people are OK. Life is too short for me to live in fear of things like that.

Personally, just not worth it for the stress you described , for F2F I only sell to established members or people I know nowadays. Had some 'new' members want to buy 10oz of gold and want me to drive an hour to meet so I can sell at close to spot. Just not worth the hassle. I met up once with a colourful character from SS, he was good and it was stress free in the end, even though I was thinking for a second if someone might jump out the bushes and trees in the park and smash me over the head lol

It's not about fear its about mitigating risk because when that day comes regretting ever taking your advice and well at least you can sing that tune when some mug is fleeing with ya coins at high speed through a shopping centre..

Never had a problem buying F2F on this forum. As a buyer, you take the risk that gold isn't real. Brother was sold fake gold during a F2F EBAY meet up, when my brother found out that the gold was fake, he called the guy up and told him he wanted more gold. Let's just say it was a stupid greedy mistake for the guy to show up again!!

Then the opposite is true. if you can't tell the luster of gold or strike quality of a mint (pretty damn hard to forge) compared to a fake then you shouldn't be buying gold...It's not worth the stress look on the bright side of life though! win some ya lose some..pfff! But I like your turn around, screw that tune, it's best to even the odds. Trust no one.

The best fake you will ever see!! It was gold plated , even the jeweler was amazed it was a fake. My point is that this is a safe forum to deal on. If your in Melbourne and you want to sell at spot, I'm happy to meet up and give you cash!!

The point is he didn't pat his bro on the shoulder and say oh well look on the bright side of life lets watch a monty python movie instead of making it right while ya can. I'm going to keep making fun of that because it was dumb. :)

I once took a fake gold bar to one of those places in a shopping centre and I noticed he put a magnet on it and then offered me cash for it. The look on his face when I told him it was a fake was priceless. :)

I couldn't count how many F2F I have done. It would be 100s. Meet a few cagei mofos preppers from time to time [always gumtree] but never had a problem from SS members and never at a bank. Always in a shopping Centre, maccas etc. Bigger purchase/sales at a bullion dealer so an xrf can do its magic. Little tip friend your local bullion dealer and support them from time to time. Stuff bank transfers payment is always cash in hand for F2F!

Your = something that belongs to you. As in "It is yours'
You're = short form of you are.

Which one would have made more sense?

Thanks for all the replies. I guess the coin is the problem. 1) It's 2 oz of gold 2) Series I lunar Dragon so forget about spot for starters...3) I kinda like it so happy to hold on to it. 4) Too much cash all at once anyhow
More thinking about picking up 1/10 1/4 gold BU instead.
Dealers in the EU seem to be holding on to these..those premiums damn..no ones paying that..
