I'm a person who was really late to crypto but now hearing all these stories how back in the day it was only people that understood the tech rather than in it for the money. I can only think what is the next BIG thing/idea that is in its early stages where very few people know about it but can become very lucrative. And I put this in the wealth creation category because it does not have to specifically have anything to do with PMs or cryptos. Overall I just want this to be a thread of ideas/things that could be the next BIG thing.

Fair but the premise of the thread is incorrect.
You are not late into Crypto, you are way early.
Lets say you onboard today into Crypto that would be akin to being part of the early American wagon trains loaded with Pilgrims heading God knows where to claim & settle land.
The Crypto ecosystem has a market cap that is completely irrelevant in the world of asset classes.
We are dwarfed by even Gold's market cap alone, by comparison all current Crypto investors are actyually Pioneers.
Check out some of the invaluable commentators on BTC to add depth on the Macro environment comparing such things as hedging asset classes, monetary supply issues, supply chain challenges etc

I'll quickly state my own ignorance with most investments thru mostly apathy Until last few years ;) but was wondering about the security and feasibility of crypto primarily btc, eth, etc when the cbdcs are implemented. To people who understand it may seem stupid but will an alternative digital currency be allowed to coexist and compete with a digital government issued 1? Or will it further taxed and made disagreeable to the main promoted 1? It's all speculative but the uncertainty has held me back from investing/gambling in this form and also that I feel more secure and gain peace of mind from physical assets. Be interested in any feedback other then my own ignorant speculation and articles/YouTube "experts"

If implemented a CBDC would have one or both of the following functions:

    a. to enable quick and easy cross-border transactions.
    b. to enable central banks to issue currency directly to the retail market.

The first is a pretty easy one and would enhance our current payment systems. The second would require legislative approval and would have widespread ramifications on the banking system, financial stability and offers no real advantages to the users of currency than the present system. My explanation of why I think CBDCs pose no threat to crypto is going to be a bit circuitous so bear with me.

Cryptocurrencies pose little threat to the fiat system as tax obligations have to be met in fiat and governments issue and spend in fiat. Now it follows therefore that if cryptos pose little threat to the fiat system then they pose little threat to the implementation of a CBDC because essentially a CBDC is just another form of fiat. Further, if cryptos pose little threat to either our current fiat system or the adoption of a CBDC, then the rationale behind introducing a CBDC is not to counter any perceived threat from privately issued currencies. Governments have other tools at their disposal to do that if they wish.

Where a CBDC does differ from our current digital fiat system and does pose a threat is that if central banks can issue CBDCs directly to the retail market (bypassing the commercial banking sector) then that could make the commercial banking system obsolete, undermine our financial stability and give central banks greater autonomy.

Much appreciated mate that's a great summary, I'll think on this more. I do see that physical banking branches are closing at quite a fast rate in many different countries of the world, it's justified for many reasons but I fear that if central banks do monopolize the system and make it the main source then it could have quite negative effects. Thankyou for the feedback

The next big thing.......like looking for a golf ball that hasn't been lost yet....cryptos will go down in history....I can't think of any other mania which comes close in gains....we could feasibly see currency depreciation at the same rate....so shorting a likely currency has the potential, over several years to produce a similar multiple and there are not too many to choose from so how is that for a starting point.....

Shorting cryptos now comes to mind... a stock can only drop to .0001 but a crypto doesn't have that limitation....

Is there something about shorting I'm missing to get really big gains? Shorting with $10 000 you can double your money if something goes to zero, which hardly happens and has a bunch of risk on top (getting squeezed etc).
How can you make millions from shorting?

Shhh....don't tell anyone....I really don't have a clue......it made sense when I wrote it but sometimes I have 'old man' moments...thinking about too many things at once.

haha.. it's a great idea and people talk about shorting all the time. I just don't know if they are getting pocket change or supplemental gains. It all adds up I'm sure. But I don't get the concept of a 'big short' unless you have millions/billions of other people's (leveraged) money on the line.

I sincerely hope Meta does not get their claws into web3/metaverse. They’ll fuck the whole idea of it.

    Next big thing for me:

after setting stop loss after stop loss, overnight only to have this happen (Like f#ing clockwork):
    upload_2023-11-2_21-54-8.png

Plan is to setup big trades with stop losses... along with another account with a bunch of shorts...
    Cancel last minute.
    And close the short positions.

Whoever is out to get me... sure can move the market...
    # Paranoid.

Also... somehow the market managed to fullfill my stop loss BELOW my actual target as well.
    Fuckers take every last cent.
