Not everyone in the crypto space thinks that BTC would make a good currency. Just as not everyone in the precious metals space thinks a gold or silver backed currency is a sound idea. I hold that currency must be deflated or inflated in response to market signals both in order to maintain purchasing power and to ensure that early adopters are not rewarded at the expense of latecomers. I'm pretty sure @heartastack hasn't had any skin in the game for quite some time. I may be wrong.
