While I'm not attempting to defend Communism or corrupt Cuban politicians by any stretch, but that happens/will happen in the West/to freedom loving peoples in other countries as well.

Being cynical here, you can guarantee 99% of the time all politicians will always feed themselves before they feed the people they pretend to serve regardless of what country they are governing. Especially when times get tough.

It doesn't appear that way all the time in Western culture because we are slightly more equal than those in Socialist/Communist regimes to those in power. When the chips are down and it really counts, we will see just how much the government truly doesn't care about the people.

Democrats are commies, 6 months of communism, don't see how things have improved. But commies still better than commie-facists.

What is going on in Johannesburg, South Africa - looting and riot police all over the place.

Feels a bit like "Duke Nukem 3D" or "They Live":

If they start using X, Y, Z instead of real words, then whatever you say can be substituted, modified or reinterpreted, because X, Y, Z are not words and make no sense!

This is a cartoon mental show! :D

    Transitory?

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/13/con...int4percent-in-june-vs-5percent-estimate.html

    • Consumer prices increased 5.4% in June from a year earlier, the biggest monthly gain since August 2008.
    • Excluding food and energy, inflation increased 4.5%, the largest move since September 1991.
    • Used car and truck prices comprised about one-third of the total CPI increase.
Inflation surged in June at its fastest pace in nearly 13 years amid a burst in used vehicle costs and price increases in food and energy, the Labor Department reported Tuesday.
The consumer price index increased 5.4% from a year earlier, the largest jump since August 2008, just before the worst of the financial crisis. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been expecting a 5% gain.
Stripping out volatile food and energy prices, the core CPI rose 4.5%, the sharpest move for that measure since September 1991 and well above the estimate of 3.8%.

My neighbor from S Africa said she was talking to a friend from back there and they can hear gun shots all day.

We have the same thing here in America. Looks like Africa, smells like Africa, called Chicago. More shootings in Chicago and Detroit tho haha.

CNBC: "The ECB starts work on creating a digital version of the euro"

    Christine Lagarde said:
    • "“Our work aims to ensure that in the digital age citizens and firms continue to have access to the safest form of money, central bank money,” Christine Lagarde, the ECB’s president, said.
    • The digital euro would allow consumers to pay electronically, without the need for banknotes and coins.
    • However, it would “complement” the existing monetary system rather than replacing physical cash and erasing the business of commercial lenders."

"You won't hold it, you won't own it" - someone else said, who was that? :D

On the other hand, I don't get it: don't they already have a digital Euro? :D

It's on cards, at the banks and at the ECB's "digital vaults". That IS digital currency.

Oh, they mean trackable centralized crypto that they control and not the holder?

One that they can erase from your account at the push of a button if you're "politically incorrect"?

Oh, that kind of "digital euro"... :D
