its was a cover, when deflation was happening, they tried to have 2% of inflation, but it was against the tide
when the negative interest is, but the deflation refused to go away, when QE are out of hand, inflation is back to bite

I dont think I've seen deflation in my life. Certain products sure, mostly tech. Everything else has risen in price over the years.

I think what they are going to do is to raise interest rates bit-by-bit, because they keep saying "it's temporary", "the inflation is small" etc.

I don't know, but I guess I am more afraid of negative rates.

Any thoughts about the outlook for next week, the rest of June?

I think the dollar is gaining strength, as gold has went down and crypto bubbles are popping right now.

Higher interest rates should be much higher in order for the dollar to become more attractive. (By this I mean as a savings asset, but it it's too high, the effect is the opposite).
    0.25 % is ridiculous.

I wouldn't mind seeing 2-4 % interest rates. At least the banks would give people something for their deposits.
2 % would be acceptable, I don't think it would hurt the US economy, I don't see why all that fuss about keeping it low. Every economy needs a healthy level of inflation.

And 3 % would be even healthy. No problem.

The US interest rate was 6.50 % in 2001 and 5.25 % in 2007. That didn't spiral the economy into hyperinflation, so 3 % wouldn't either.

If it keeps rising, then that would be a problem.

I guess they are afraid because of QE. That 3 % would be a substantial blow to the asset-purchasing programme.

Maybe 1.9% haha. It would start cratering soon after that.
Some rates are rising and it's already slowing those sectors down. It doesnt take much anymore and the market is very sensitive since it's so overvalued. It cant take any kind of shaking.

Almost everyone is expecting high inflation, so i guess deflation it is.. Good time to be building up your savings account.

Deflationary pressures are super strong and governments and individuals have no appetite to create sustained inflation. Short of central banks directly putting money into peoples back accounts, i just can't see the general inflation story.

Cryptos are collapsing. The end of the tulip-mania?

Or just one of those crashes that propels them up even higher? Bitcoin to 1 million USD?

Almost no-one is buying these crypto fiats right now.

Gold, silver going down, perhaps profit-taking?

Could we be ahead of a crypto & PM collapse altogether? I've never seen them both crash at the same time. This is interesting.

It's possible, but I don't see how we are having deflation when everything is going up in price. Maybe deflation only exists in cryptos but it's not real?

I think BTC is going back to under $10k. I see head and shoulders pattern. I don’t own any, nor am I about to.

There hasnt been any deflation even with added personal debt and less spending from consumers. Prices just keep going up and they wont drop any time soon.
It goes to show that velocity of money isnt really related to inflation.
You can easily have higher retail prices with little to no velocity.

I am not seeing the deflation. I am seeing:

1 - consumer price inflation (not officially recognized, but food, energy, transportation and raw material prices rising dramatically, double-triple prices are frequent amongst construction materials, vegetable-based natural foods,
meat products other than processed meet, which is not "meet" anyway etc.)
2 - energy prices are becoming more expensive through various tricks: like they re-package deals or they privatize companies to make prices have false reasons to soar; oil price rising; people are using more electricity since the
    pandemic has started
3 - banks practicing zero (or near-zero) interest rates
4 - national banks fearing and predicting inflation
5 - PM permabulls speaking and fearmongering about deflation

Not sure if you're aware yet but Alor is our resident CCP operative most likely collecting data on how we react to anti-western propaganda. We try not to stoke it...

Hehe, well, what does the term "Western" even mean anymore today?

The controllers and rulers of the (former) Western Empires cannot tear them down from the inside soon enough, meaning, does the term "anti-Western" today refer to former Western Civilisation or to the ruling classes of that Civilisation?

If it is the latter, I'm almost rooting for the CCP.
