    Hi,

I looking for some 1950 silver or gold circulated or uncirculated coins in good condition. A relative of mine was born on that year and he wants to create a display piece to put on the wall with coins in a frame. Large silver coins would be best as gold will become pricey.

    Suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

You don't have much of an option there, @Wags.

We were well and truly off the gold standard by then and the collector gold coin issuance was not what it is today.

Even with the silver coins if you are looking for Australian, you are limited to the threepence, sixpence, and shilling
as the florin was not issued that year, but at least none of these coins are rare so you should have no problem obtaining
    them at a reasonable price.

Thanks for that. Great advice. Looks like I'm looking for 1950 threepence, sixpence, and shillings.

An alternative might be US coins from the era, if you don't mind the country of origin. Plenty of silver half dollars, quarters, dimes etc floating about.

Otherwise, how many shillings/6p/3p are you after?
