Yep. I was lucky enough to swap a Perth Mint 1oz minted bar + $100 for a Welcome Stranger on Saturday. Seemed like a pretty good trade.
What did you think of the Orianas? I grabbed one to maybe trade on a coin down the track. What takes your fancy re: gold? Myself, I've developed a penchant for "nuggets"
I prefer the gold coins, nuggets , emus , birds of paradise , swans. Like the low mintage ones. I was so tempted by the Orianas , I am not into the minted bars . Probably should have got one for trade. It was so tempting.
Love the "Rifle Bird"? BoP. I could only manage a silver though- beautiful coin. I have a 2019 & 2020 swan, really nice. A 2017 would be a welcome addition too.
I traded a 2020 Buffalo & 1/10 kanga for a 98 Nugget the other day. You on the hunt for anything in particular ATM?
Yes , i have the 2019 and 2020 swans and would like earlier ones. I like the earlier coins in general . Have a few lunars but not overly keen on them. Prefer the aussie native animals. I am a metal stacker who is fighting the collector within, so I tend to buy a coin if I like it and the price is right. Bullion now had some rectangle dragon coins last month which i jumped on. I also got a 1990 nugget recently Which I really like.
That 1 oz Welcome Stranger coin on eBay will probably sell for around $2600 maybe a little more, going by those two crappy photos on there it doesn't deserve to sell for any more. Auction is definitely not the way to go if you want to achieve the best price for these type of coins on eBay, a higher buy now price and a little bit of patience is a much better strategy for achieving the best price. Over the weekend I was bidding on a 1987 Nugget proof set featuring the Poseidon 1 oz coin on eBay, I ended up being the underbidder for it. It sold for $4820, which is only $200 over spot, so quite a bargain for who ever bought it.
