If you were going to buy a few 1oz gold bars...would you buy cast or minted....what are your opinions on each and why do you prefer one over the other....thankyou?

I like cast over minted as I prefer the look, in so saying an oz is an oz is an oz when it comes to oz bars and IF you are not a collector go for whats cheapest.

Totally agree. What ever is the cheapest. The mints look pretty and are great to show off on Instagram, but then you lock it up for safe keepings. Cast bars have a better feel in your hand too when you hold them.

I see the differences in appearance - cast vs. "minted" but am not sure what and where "stamped" fits in (usually silver?). Can someone explain the different processes?

My gold, aside from a few coins, are bars in assay packaging

Cast bars definitely have a charm to them and don't feel so fragile to handle.

Perhaps buy a gold Lunar 1oz gold coin, that way you may get numismatic appreciation in the years to come.
Having said that, if you are set on buying a gold bar, I'd tend to buy the 1oz Perth serialized bar which has a mintage of 15,000.
The minted gold bars are pretty good too but be very sure of what your buying; some folk on the forum have warned of counterfeit minted gold bars on ebay.

Just avoid minted and carded imo. I like the 1oz blobs and they are the closest to spot usually.
