Customs officers found precious metals in her car in the west of the Alpine Republic. The Czechs apparently wanted to avoid paying customs duties and will now have to pay a large fine, the Austrian daily Heute reported today. The Austrian authorities detained the family at the Austrian-Swiss border crossing Feldkirch-Wolfurt. First, customs officers found 707 silver bars weighing 662 kilograms in the trunk of an apparently overloaded vehicle. While inspecting the daughter’s bag, customs officers came across a gold core made, 74 bars of gold weighing a total of 3.25 kilograms. At the same time, the family had previously told customs that they had only picked up 4,000 euros in Liechtenstein and were actually headed for Zurich. But neither the customs officers believed the Czechs. Customs officers assume that the family wanted to transport a treasure worth 700,000 euros (almost 18.7 million crowns) to the Czech Republic without paying an import duty of 96,700 euros (about 2.6 million crowns). According to Heute, the Czech Republic now faces an “enormous” fine, as goods worth more than 10,000 euros must be reported to customs. In connection with the case, Heute also quotes the Austrian Minister of Finance Gernot Blümel, who expressed pride in the Austrian customs administration. “Combating illegal money movements is crucial in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing,” Blümel said. those coppers were very creative with the stacking for the photos. Looks like they had allot of fun building that display lol wonder if there was a point where they thought, fuck we might be a few bricks short of making this symmetrical on both sides so we better start again
looks like 90% Ag. and 10% Au they used two tables to hold them, one with silver top and another with golden top
Of course it's terrorism financing and money laundering. Most definitely not a family trying to avoid $200,000 in customs duty.
Silly they shlould have just bought gold, would have been less than 15 kilos. It it was a "car" not a SUV it would have been sagging to the ground with the wieght of 660kg silver and the family, tipping customs that either the car was unsafe or something is hidden.
