With the warmer months headed our way especially in your neck of the woods the following shouldn't be an issue but please be aware molten metal when it hits a cool to cold surface will almost explode in all direction, flying balls of molten metal that love to stick to skin, not much fun. The only thing worse if it their is moisture on the surface even the condensation from your beer. I'm sure you'll have everything heated but just thought I'd give you a heads up mate. Having seen first hand a 100kg blast furnace almost empty straight up coating to roof & everything around it due to more metal being added that had been sitting outside in the rain i can say its as impressive as it is scary. Keep up the great work your doing.

Yes, there are some frightening videos on Youtube showing what can happen when moisture gets into an industrial crucible.

Yep here's one that should give you an idea, large scale small scale physics don't care.

Thanks for the heads up :)
All sounds very scary and I sure don’t want to experience that.
    But yes taking much care.
Fire proof gloves, apron and face shield.
All surfaces and moulds are preheated before any pouring takes place.
And yes I’ll make sure my beer doesn’t come to close.

    That is crazy!!!
Now knowing extremely well the dangers after watching that I have decided to add danger money to the selling price of my hand poured bars.
    I’m thinking $1000 an oz!!!!!!

Cool about all the precautions, i wanted to let you know because (A) you don't know what you don't know till you do & (B) with little ones being around a spill of a drink can lead to an accident. Having seen a 3 ton crucible go over & the aftermath (expected a pool of metal not a million balls of molten metal going in every direction like a 360 shot gun), then learning the how & why then the blast furnace indecent as well as another "joke at tafe that went horribly wrong i learned not to fear but be aware, thought I'd pass it on. As for the price hike ( i know your joking) not cool.

There’s something quite meditative about watching that bar melt away....

Thanks! Yes that’s what I thought also when I saw it. For a split second I thought I should keep it but I was having too much fun melting, I just had to finish it all off.
