If they "discover" a vaccine, and everyone is convinced that things will return to the "old" normal.... Than yes, Gold will tank. But I'm honestly starting to think they'll keep this crap going on for as long as humanly possible. So who really knows anymore. Hate to say this.... but this time really is different. Humans are frightened little sheeple, who like feeling protected. We're now begging to be saved ( read : enslaved ). I'm genuinely concerned what my fellow citizens are thinking. Check out social media... It's insane, the garbage these people are regurgitating.
Indeed. I think the first phases (months until mid-summer) were a shock to most economies, but things might get just a little bit better now and, gold might take a breath. Permabulls will have a lot of explaining to do again, if gold falls below 1,800 $. It could go even further down. Marc Faber said not below 1,800 $. Now a lot more depends on social crises, industry-specific crises and the trade wars with China/Turkey/Russia etc. Things will escalate. The "redistribution of power and areas of influence" is happening gradually: the multipolar world is the future. And the only global power can come from an ideology, globalism, neo-communism (call it whatever). China is not likely to become a global power (most countries would distance themselves plus, there are many other factors), but the US will no longer be a global power, the EU and Russia don't have that potential etc. People are "sheeple" indeed. They don't understand anything in front of their eyes. They think willingly give everything up: privacy, ownership etc. Willingly, but without understanding what they're doing. This is neo-communism with a human face. The WHO says corona will be with us for 2 more years. How do they know? It can last as long as they want. I just hope that "soylent green" is not the next step. The movie plays in 2022. And in the movie they speak of a post-economic crisis famine-infested world. Perhaps you know. (if not, just look up the trailer: Soylent Green)
Yes it will last for years because this crash will last for years. The covid is the blame for the crash remember? It will be with us used as the excuse for years to come. They cant blame policy and keep control of the sheeple now can they.
prices are following the skate the human mentality is there for all to see https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=240598877129858
Can we get this thread moved out of Markets and Economics over to Current Affairs with the rest of the nutjob trash?
The Fed latest speech at Jackson Hole doesn’t bode too well for the future. American companies are usually the first to lay-off and Asian companies the last - in fact, many don’t bother to lay off, just pay half or no wages and hope employees will give up and leave on their own, forfeiting months of owed pay. So you can have all the pretty production figures, but the companies haven’t paid wages for the last 6 months. Eventually the charade will blow up because once employees realise they won’t getting their back pay and leave, the factories and businesses will start shutting down one after another because no one can work for free forever. Company workers have become the creditor of last resort, so to speak.
Famine is coming. I've stocked up on 1 year's supply of rice and half a year's supply of milk. Ever since I had to overpay for masks, I'm not going to make the same mistake again.
Pfft I can stock up with 5 years of rice for less than $10 In a pinch, might be able to stretch it to 6 - 7 years
They are now expensive. Last Dec, I bought 50 pieces, only $6, hospital grade surgical mask, manufactured in malaysia.
Still able to pick up 20 kg Rice packs for $22. But I don't think those would last you five years. Surely they would be long expired by then. Wheres this information about unpaid factory workers coming from do you have sources?
Please don't get sucked into sgbuyer idiocy, buying 1 year worth of rice living in Singapore, he likely doesn't even own a gun lol
5kg only last me a month and the hom mali thai rice is usually $16 for a 5kg pack. https://www.fairprice.com.sg/product/royal-umbrella-thai-hom-mali-rice-13111322 The point isn't cost but to avoid being like a fool again as me wife made me queue up early in the year for masks, toilet paper, rice.
my missus for a period of time cooked a tonne of rice dishes which was ok at first, but after a few months of that, rice is no longer welcome in this house hold. lol, I have no idea how Asians can eat that shit daily, even a cooked sewer rat sounds more appetizing than a life time of rice as a SHTF scenario. ahaha although Im sure there are plenty of asians who would have their sewer rat as a complimenting dish to their rice lol
^ you need special steamer to cook good rice if you use rice cooker to do that, would not be eating rice after just for a month I just keep small quantity of Thai brown rice for Canadian Oats, for much more than the rice 1 year worth of rice is not big quantity, since most meals are consume outside (eating out at food courts/hawkers centers etc) a few set of meals each week...x 52 getting caught with long queue, sucks its easier to shop online, get free delivered on the door steps
