'Anybody know anything about this and how to get hold of it without being scammed?'

I feel comfortable to say: Don't! First, you need to do your ABCs of crypto security. You can PM me; I'll help. Or maybe set up a DOGE coin 'Electrum' wallet, and ask me for a few DOGE to play with.

    But in principle:

well, you'd look here -- https://coinmarketcap.com/ -- to see if it has a listing (which would include its exchanges).

And if CMC doesn't have it, that's not good. So anyway, then you'd Google: 'XYZ Coin exchanges.'

THEN, assooooming you get some hits, you face the normal OPSEC requirement of reviewing one of those exchanges. Then you'd set up an account. Then you'd transfer a pinch of Bitcoin on to the exchange.
