Gday, I've been a member and a stacker for some time- albeit a relatively casual one at that. I'm not too knowed up on the scene, and you'll have to forgive me if I've even posted this in the wrong section. I've got a special edition Doctor Who 1oz coin, and I've been eyeing off the eBay listings for some time to get an idea of prices and how much they're moving. Trouble is, eBay will obviously take a huge chunk off something of that value, and I'm not sure how much of a market there is for it. I'm quite sure it wouldn't be something that would interest most people on here (though happy to be proven wrong on that), so what's people's recommendations on where to offload something unusual such as this? Cheers
There is sales threads on this forum where you could chose to list at a price you wish to sell it at or conduct an auction and see where the price goes. https://www.silverstackers.com/forums/index.php?forums/australia-new-zealand-public.30/
Despite what some people on here think of it, eBay is still the best place to sell those type of collectable numismatics. If you are worried about the fees, then list it on gumtree first and then import on to eBay from there. No listing or final value fees apply from eBay that way, the only fees you will be up for is PayPal commission when it sells.
Dr who is popular with a lot of people. Surely some of them are stackers. Yea eBay gas fees, but the sale price for expensive things is a lot higher... and gold is in demand atm..
Never knew thats how you can get around those fees thanks for sharing. but the best thing about this forum vs ebay, buyers understand shipping is at their own risk, ebay they will charge back at any sign of a problem, or even just to scam. so thats why I dont sell PM on ebay.
See that was one of my concerns; can they do that? If someone can just issue a chargeback and keep the item, what's to stop them being dishonest? I've barely sold on eBay, and certainly not in a long time so I'd want to understand these things before I even considered using it.
this one is a good example, if you spend a bit of time reading that thread, its shocking how their system works. https://www.silverstackers.com/forums/index.php?threads/ebay-disaster-please-help.94652/ Ive stopped selling valuable things on ebay, I still sell stuff there, just not things worth good money
