Gold is the single loophole that will undo negative rates and cashless banking. It must be closed before they can continue their bailout parties

So how can we protect our Gold? Will they make SMSFs that hold Gold illegal?
What about companies holding gold or is just regular citizen Joe that won’t be allowed to own Gold?

You better bury it as deep as you can where no one will suspect it

Perhaps they will attempt to tax it out of circulation first like in India

Yeah, there are many great promotional deals nowadays.
Ironic how many products are being sold at ridiculous prices. Including expensive DSLR cameras. The price cuts are sometimes tremendous. I guess the sales are down, but the stocks are full and they need to get rid of them.

Eventually you will have to sell it or, leave as inheritance.

Or, do you intend to just leave it buried like "pirate treasure"? Or like a dog buries his bone FOREVER :D

Or, guard it like Kamazuka (the WW II Japanese soldier did), not knowing that WW II was over:

Theres always a market for gold, legal or not.
Its possibly the only real asset of value in the end.

When the last gold rally began, the topic of gold confiscation became ipecac syrup.
It's a good indicator, to not only buy gold, but to watch for the dip, before the gurus fill their pockets with shiny. ;):)

Having said that, I like to play along.;)

    Dear Sir,

Our records indicate that your tax return submitted for the period 2019 / 2020 show that your
business deals with buying and selling precious metal.

As you are aware, the ownership of gold coins that are legal tender are no longer allowed to be sold to the general public,
you are to to proceed to the nearest Westpac bank so that your coins can be purchased through the gold "buy-back"
    system.
All gold coinage will attract the buy back price set by the Treasurer Of Australia, Mr. Zhang Wei Zhang, the current rate is
    35,577.00 Chinese Yuan.

Hey Bill, they want our gold Roos and Lunars!
    What?
    You heard, they're doing a buy-back.
    Who?
    The Gov! :(

    Really?
That's great news at least we won't have to pay 13% ebay and Paypal fees! :D

It has been a long time since I checked BS website. The gold sales has almost fallen flat. Never seen so little gold sold in a long time, probably since Q3 2018!

Leave the BS websites alone sgbuyer, they never tell you the truth:D

I sold four 4 of the 10 gram 22 carat $200 gold coins yesterday for just under $1000 each,
so the $3000 per ounce gold sales are going pretty good at least in my neck of the woods.
It was my first gold coins sale on Gumtree, so I am pretty stoked to have a new avenue to sell apart from eBay.
It seems that some people are more interested to buy through Gumtree than eBay nowadays, as I had the items listed
on there as well because of the free listings offer, but had no takers.
This might be due to a degree of anonymity offered by Gumtree for cash sales.
The young guy who purchased the coins told me that he withdrew the funds from his superannuation account as a result
of the Government allowance made for Covid 19 hardships.
So there is at least one positive thing to this whole Coronavirus circus, as some people are accumulating real wealth
    as a result of it.

I have not experienced this. I was selling $200 coins on Ebay for nearly $1000. Ebay is good for $1 fees, no time wasters and establishing bona fides. I had buyers coming back for seconds of these and sovereigns in private sales. A Buy it Now listing for $900 today will certainly sell within hours.

Perhaps it is this but then why not just waltz in to the Melbourne CBD with cash? It's quite trivial for the ATO to monitor your activity on Gumtree.

Correction lunar, eBay was (not is) good for $1 fees - it is not good for $1 selling fees anymore.

I have not had this selling option since November of last year, if you are able to sell for this price then you must be special.

And my statement about Gumtree providing some anonymity for cash transactions was directed at the buyers on Gumtree not the sellers.

Anyway, welcome to the forum newbie !

    Hope you enjoy your stay.:)

I frequently get these offers. The last one:
Make More On Your Next 5 Sales
Pay no more than $1 on Final Value Fees on the next 5 items you list and sell
    End Date 02/06/20 23:59:59 AEST

$3000 gold might be premature since I noticed that 5 oz of 2020 kangaroos sold hours ago in auctions for $2621 / oz.

Darn it lunar, now you have gone and made me all jealous, as I dont get these type of offers from eBay at all anymore.
It seems that my above standard seller rating, 100% positive feedback, and decades of membership counts for jack squat with eBay.:(

Anyway, we better stop talking about eBay on this tread or the lady who started it might get upset.

I just thought because it was off topic, JulieW.

And there are other threads more suitable for eBay discussions.

If it does not bother you then you are a better person than me in this respect.
