How are diamond prices moving currently?

Are they also soaring just like gold? Is there are chart regarding diamond price trends during the current Corona pandemic?

I know a few things about diamonds. Grading, shape etc. But pricing has always perplexed me.

Currently, I heard some people are buying diamonds. And I was wondering whether they're a good (or bad) buy. Prices can go up as well, regardless whether they are grown in a lab or not.

I think the only diamonds worth investing are pink diamonds but they start at 20k+

I would only invest in vivd red diamonds, the rest are not worth the risk. Vivid reds are the rarest and most desirable.

I can already see Coober Pedy with a Midnight Oil backing track. Well, INXS "Listen Like Thieves" would suit it as well.

Eddy Elzas... also known as "the rainbow child."

There used to be more information about him in the internet in the "old days", but sadly it is lacking now. Here is one link anyway... not the best
    https://gulfnews.com/uae/eddy-elzas-king-of-coloured-diamonds-1.472265

I saw a documentary on this guy decades ago, and basically, the story is this: He worked in the family business of diamond dealing (Antwerp) in the days before coloured diamonds were actually valuable. In those early days, the clear diamonds were shipped in a box, resting on a bed of ground-up coloured diamonds - for the coloured diamonds were regarded as worthless. Eddy loved the coloured diamond dust, and so he thenceforward asked his suppliers to ship him the coloured diamonds whole and intact, and this is how he built up the world's most famous collection of coloured diamonds, known as "The Rainbow Collection." He has five red diamonds in his collection, which he calls the rarest colour.

just buy BTC if you’re thinking about diamonds as investments... pretty much monopolised by DeBeers et al. and they hv heaps in storage that can dump for a price of silver now..

Diamonds might not be the best investment.

But cryptos? Worthless digital fiat not backed by anything that get pumped and dumped (like bitches) and keep collapsing. These are NOT STORES OF VALUE.

Pay attention to what Eddy says between 0:55 - 1:05, as this is a testament to the influence of Eddy's collection. Remembering that originally, the coloured diamonds were regarded as worthless, but Eddy helped change all that.

As you can see, there are red diamonds galore now, but in Eddy's experience - when he was building the rainbow collection, he regarded that colour as being the rarest.

Hardly. He was offered a fortune for this collection by the Saudi king - who wanted to give it to Charles and Diana, but he refused. He's an important figure in the history of diamonds. There's a lot more to life than just simply offloading items for yet more fiat. All artists know this.
