I have the opportunity to buy the 2018 Libertad 1 oz for US$1490.00 (AU$2110), include delivery.

At 15%, the silver like premium is crazy for gold, especially with recent lower gold prices. Is this kind of premium normal for gold libertads, or perhaps I should wait for 2019?

Premium might be ok for a Singapore purchase. Wouldn't pay that much in Aus.

There’s no real market in Singapore for premium coins other than some foreign residents staying here. People just buy the lowest premium Pamp or Canadian maples to gamble on the spot short term. Faith in fiat is very strong in belief that the Singapore government will back the banks when the crunch comes.

I've only collected silver Libertads and they don't have a premium. I'm surprised the gold coins do.

There's a high premium for new gold and silver libertads. But i didn't buy and it's now too expensive. Now $1750.

I like the 1oz coin, seen it first hand. It's really cool as it has a matte finish just like the archangel which luckily i bought in 2018, but even nicer.

By the way, I think it makes a lot of sense for you to stack silver as silver will be the hard currency for Americans just as gold does for Asians and Europeans. With the US the last in the cycle, this means silver's day hasn't come yet.
