    Hello all
I have some random diamond rings, broches etc. Where is the best place to take them to sell as i have no idea what the diamonds etc are worth?
    Appreciate any advice
    Cheers

Bullion Now in Collins St, is good for selling scrap gold.

They will pay you for silver and gold content, not for gems. There are diamond traders in the same building but not sure if they buy from public.

They will give you the best price for your scrap. Make sure you tell them that you found them through Silver Stackers to get the special SS rate

I’d imagine if you took a ring to scrap/bullion dealer, the best you can get is spot?

Value of stones are subjective, so it’s hard to tell what it is worth, but a nice looking jewellery should get you a premium if you have time.

If it was me I’d try to find out what the stones are worth and sell as jewellery, here, eBay Facebook etc.

If the stones are higher quality, I’d even get the worthless valuation certificate.

Small stones of medium to lessor quality is worthless in secondhand market by itself.

Depending where you go, you'll get 87% to 92% of spot for scrap. You need to have a good quality stone in order to get any money for it. Sadly, that's just the way it all works. If someone offers you spot for scrap, then take it!

If you have any vintage or antique jewellery I would be interested above spot, even well above spot.

Did you end up finding a place for diamond jewellery? I am also looking to sell but hard to price diamonds for sale on the forum.

Sold them privately a little bit under valuation. Yes diamonds make it tricky tbh. If you see Stewart at bullion now he might be able to help.

Stuart is actually with "Goldmongers Precious Metals"

He shares an office with Bullion Now so it gets a little confusing.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about getting above spot price.

They're more likely to pay 10% below spot, that allows them some profit margin if they can't sell it and have to scrap it themselves.

I know a bloke who buys jewelry, he's not interested in silver and the stones are not factored into his price. He pays 10% below spot.
Some of his jewelry get sold, most gets scrapped and the stones go into a bag for grading.

I think Goldmongers have a deal going where they'll give Silver Stackers 95% of spot. So it's important to mention to Stuart that you're from Silver Stackers. It's probably the best deal you'll get from any dealer in Australia.

There is no better buyback rate for scrap gold in the southern hemisphere than 95% of spot. Coupled with the fact that he shares an office with Bullion Now who pay spot for bullion, we are honestly very lucky here in Melbourne. I post my stuff in to him all the time. Now if we could find a place to sell our stones, it would be like cherry on pudding!

I'll ask where old mate sells his stones, I think he sells them to a proper jeweler.
