Last year Dolphin from Royal Australian Mint was great. Any news on the second release in the series?
I think the reason the Queen Anne’s Pirate ship was so popular was because it wasn’t yet another animal, mammal, fish, creature, critter or bird. I think there’s just too many flavors like these being produced, and people are getting burnt out. Perth needs a little more creativity for a bullion coin, and end the swans, birds of paradise, emu, etc..seriously, it’s just old. Stick with a core, or retire some series, there’s just too many damn things getting produced. IMHO.
There are many times more pirate themed ships, skulls, rum silver coins/rounds than australian animals. 2 queen anne's revenge coins in 2019. Price wise PM bullion coins are highly correlated with their mintage so perhaps theme is irrelevant. Indicates to me that these are all short term flippers coins with nothing significant about them in the long term.
Yes. Many do not know the difference and think there is only one Mint in Australia. But Barsenault is an exception, for sure
I really like the new 2020 "Spinner" Dolphin Coin, I especially like the "whirling" effect and the sun setting/rising over a choppy sea in the foreground of the joyful creature featured on the coin's reverse, I bucked up for a pre-sale PCGS MS70 FDOI with exclusive RAM label but do not yet have it in hand, it seems like a nice pick up . Not long ago, I did also purchase a 2019 NGC graded MS70 "Bottlenose" Dolphin coin that has a clearly visible with the naked eye milk spot right below the dolphin's flipper, I should have returned it to the dealer but I spaced it and now it bugs me.
Think it can be a hit. If someone at Royal Australian Mint reads this - you are very good. Thumbs up!!!
Marlin has maybe greatest water effect on a fish themed coin. This dolphin would be a great "flipper" coin
There is currently a 2019 Bottlenose Dolphin PCGS MS70 complete with a fancy exclusive RAM label on ebay that is just covered in visible spots, "there is a problem RAM Canberra". Hope they have worked this out by the time the 2020's arrive, my NGC MS70 also has a big visible spot on it.
Apmex (USA) is an exclusive dealer of them. Some dealers in Europe also sell them now. Not sure about Australia though...
Yes, there is such a problem(( Although it is not a Canada scale problem it is a big shame for RAM anyway.
I received my 2020 Spinner Dolphins "PCGS graded copies" in from Apmex today, no spots or blemishes, nice looking coins. PCGS Population as of 1/17/2019: MS70 FDOI = 100 coins, MS70 First Strike = 70 coins, MS69 First Strike = 100 coins (no MS69 FDOI).
