Hi Everyone, I am new to the scene and have been reading up on all various things a beginner needs to know. There are just a few things i could not find the answer for before my first purchase. I would like to state that my motive is more Investment related and not so much collective. Is there a big price diffrence from buying Online or in a store in Melbourne? If so what store would you recommend. Also, I live in Melbourne but i will be moving back to Scotland next year for good. So is it more beneficial to buy only UK silver products as at re-sale time it will more likely be in Scotland. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Top two in Australia -Bullion Now Melbourne -ABC Bullion Sydney Plenty other great dealers besides these two. Online price would be same as floor price for these dealers. Best price bullion can be found on the forums right here.
I would second the buying online here at silverstackers. Buy from members that have a good track record of feedback and you really cant go wrong. I note a number of items being sold at spot. Sometime less. Not very often you will get that from a dealer.
Agree with the above replies !! Regarding UK or OZ, silver is silver!! If u have oz silver u may have a point of difference when selling which may get u more or quicker sale!! Perth mint is popular and recognised globally!! Happy stacking
Really, that sounds good. Thanks for the info. Do those oppertunitys come up in general discussions or do you have to contact a member privately? I am intrested in a first purchase, so actively seeks oppertunitys.
Just go to the trading thread and see what's for sale https://www.silverstackers.com/forums/index.php?forums/australia-new-zealand-public.30/ You can also post on there asking to buy specific items and members will contact you if they have them and are willing to sell
^^^yrp, u can buzz in the thread which means,I'll buy that/sold or PM an offer/buzz. My personal experience is u can buy here with a reasonable amount of confidence,I've never not received something I've bought although I have had 1 anxious moment!! 1 lot of dud gemstones and broken coin tolls due to poor packaging. read the trade warning thread too!!
I'm not aware of any physical store that sells cheaper than they or others sell online. Postage is the difference usually.
Perth Bullion was of them-you could buy cheaper in store than online, but sadly for us that's history.
I buy mostly online from Goldstackers (who run this forum) https://www.goldstackers.com.au/ As SilverDJ mentioned, it is postage that is the killer! Metals are heavy and lots of small purchases ends up costing a ton in postage. Goldstackers lets you store small purchases free of charge and then when you get a decent amount they will ship it all in one go, one postage cost to maximise the weight allowance. This is what I usually do as I like to buy a couple of coins from each series when they are first released, if I got them posted on each release I would have half a dozen packages to pay for. I occasionally buy "buy-back silver", cheapest way of buying 999 pure silver but a bit of a lottery, sometimes you get a Perth Mint Bar, sometimes you get generic rounds and sometimes a no-name company bar. Hard to resell. Mind you, I think you still pay VAT on silver in the UK, so all local prices will be 20% higher than you can buy it, you shouldn't have much trouble selling it if you have 20% margins to work with.
It varies a lot. Perth Mint and ABC bullion have no option but to use an armoured service, and it costs $25-$30 per kg IIRC So you wouldn't use them for anything heavy silver related. But someone like BullionMoney is only $12 to ship from Sydney to say Perth for small gold stuff, $16 for a 1kg bar, rising to $24 max for even 10kg.
