No chance I’m buying the 5 oz to flip. As a collection, perhaps. But 5 oz pieces are very very difficult to sell in this challenging market. 1 oz coins are a no-brainer, but 5 oz, virtually impossible. I agree with trinkets. If they start adding all kinds of variations, I’ll pass on future editions...no way, no how.

imo, I think the 5oz will be easy to flip. first in the series, low mintage, 1oz did incredibly well, strong design, Perth Mint, I could go on...

the most direct comparison I can think of currently would be the 5oz britannia germania, which sold out very quickly everywhere and has a decent secondary premium. And that was just a round :)

Yes, greed can ruin then... As they are not Perth Mint stuff like with Swans where they had legislation restrictions on variety of designs, here with Tuvalu they can do what they want.... Fingers crossed they would not spoil things...

Apmex are selling them in lots and jacking the price by $50 each time, so not really a realistic gauge. Also, they weren't selling as fast as I was expecting. Looking at other sites, it seems that most of those buying are flippers looking for quick turnarounds.

I had one in my cart at $250 US, which became $260 US because of PayPal, plus the $40 shipping, the total was $300 US.

That price added to all of the flipper activity, I passed. The premium wasn't worth it to me.

That’s just stupid level premium! $US60oz = $A87/oz... not even 2oz Queens Beast griffins are going for that much of a premium on eBay! I’m not one to tell people what they should and shouldn’t do with their money/what to stack, but there’s no way I’d go near that unless you had an insane desire to collect. Especially with the flipping window on them being so small, if you weren’t successful then good luck offloading that down the line and breaking even!

Yeah, I’m not touching 5 oz either for good, or for a long time; and certainly not for a flip. I’ve tried with 4 or 5 different types...very popular types (i.e. 5 oz swan - and great price), and it was a bear to sell. Very, very tough. Same mintage 500. I wound up selling them all back to APMEX for a profit...whereas on eBay it would have been a loss...so, no thanks. For the collection, yes, at a decent price, because everything should be bought with a mindset, ‘if I have to sell.’ IMHO.

Yes, it is. But what about the series?... Do not know too many pitare ships except Anne's Revenge. And if there are some they would look near identical to the first in the series. Do not think Apmex want to go the way of Nautical Ounce. And after in Nautical oz there are ships of famous travellers. So think we can expect not only ships but maybe famous locations and parrots lol

    The Royal Fortune

And don't forget The Black Pearl lol

Perhaps they'll branch out into famous Privateers, who with a letter of Marque were basically legal Pirates (as long as they attacked ships of which the letters issuing country were at war with)

    Description from APMEX.
“the first Black Flag release features one of the world's most notorious pirate ships, Queen Anne's Revenge” is ships or pirates? I hope it’s a small series of maybe 5 and ships!

I'd love to see a reproduction of a spanish piece of eight where each piece is 1oz of silver which will make a big coin
