China has been restricting gold imports in recent months. Ever wonder why Trump wants a gold standard? Because it will mean China will have to pay for oil and food using gold. The rmb will hyperinflate when that happens. Americans will also need to pay for their Christmas decoration and badges using gold so it becomes sort of tariff on imports. The smallest loser is the ultimate winner.

In a return to the gold standard, America won't be the biggest loser because countries that need to import oil and food will need to pay gold. The price of oil, food and other essential goods will soar in comparison to non-essential goods (electronics, luxury and other manufactured goods) and this will automatically resolve the trade imbalance.
